Women’s Champion: Alundra Blayze (12/26/1993)

Your hosts are Vince McMahon and Randy Savage.

  • Jeff Jarrett vs. Doink the Clown (w/Dink & Wink)

Jarrett is wearing WCW colors tonight. Will he be jumping ship? CALL MEAN GENE ON THE WCW HOTLINE TONIGHT TO FIND OUT. Kids, get your parents’ permission before calling. Doink gets the better of Jarrett to start. Jeff grabs an abdominal stretch and cheats a bit. Somewhere IRS is mad. As Dink helps his buddy recover, Lawler’s little kings head down to ringside. There’s Queasy and a yet unnamed fellow. If I had to guess just by looking at his mustache and extremely hairy chest, that’s Sleazy. Of course, Doink gets distracted by them and Jarrett knees him out to the floor to get stomped. Commercials! When we return, Jarrett is still owning Doink with rest holds. Enziguri from Jarrett gets two. Meanwhile, Vince and Randy are talking about the American Motor Company for reasons I do not care to rewind and find out. Doink fires back with a butterfly suplex, but can’t exactly capitalize. As Doink mounts his comeback, Sleazy takes a nasty bump off the apron. While the little people scurry around ringside, Doink is desperately trying to get the win. The ref is all flustered. Meanwhile, Doink hits the WHOOPIE CUSHION, but no ref. Jerry Lawler runs down, lowers the boom on Doink, and puts Jarrett on top for the win. (10:36 shown) This match was completely by the book. You knew exactly what was going to happen and when. No wonder Randy Savage left having to call this stuff. At least in WCW, he could still wrestle and make a ton of cash. Afterwards, Lawler introduces us to – you guessed it – Sleazy. *½

The Action Zone debuts on Sunday October 23 at 12 noon. Bret vs. Owen – brother vs. brother – one FINAL encounter.

  • Davey Boy Smith vs. Roy Raymond

Raymond gives Bulldog a slap across the face and it’s all downhill from there for him. A little clunky finish, but the RUNNING POWERSLAM wins at 3:31.

We catch a glimpse of the Burt Reynolds autobiography book signing. Hand check, Vince. The title of the book is called, “My Life”. Savage – “If the book was about [Vince’s] life, I’d like to read it.” Randy is truly the voice of the people.

Let Us Take You Back to Superstars, 10/15/94. Bob Backlund put LEGENDARY HALL OF FAMER Arnold Skaaland in the Crossface Chickenwing. Mr. Backlund comes out to try and stop the tape from airing, but to no avail. Vince McMahon wants to know what Bob has to say about his actions? He ponders apologizing to the WWF organization, but not to Arnold Skaaland. He made a huge mistake for ever choosing him as a manager long ago. Then he goes on his usual rant about how inept the plebeians are. Stop eating marijuana or swearing in front of your children. Vince tries to keep Backlund on track. Not his most coherent promo, but possibly that’s the point, ehh? When Backlund starts challenging fans to come down and break the Crossface Chickenwing, Lex Luger heads out and to challenge him. Backlund shuffles around the ring waiting for Lex, but refs and agents keep him back.

  • Bob Holly vs. Reno Riggins

This weekend on Superstars, it will be the Battle of the Bobs when Holly faces Backlund in the feature match. There’s also the 1-2-3 Kid against Chris Kanyon, which might be interesting. Flying body press from Holly gets him the “checkered flag” at 2:38.

  • IRS (w/Ted DiBiase) vs. Tim McNeany

Schyster plans to expose the biggest tax cheat in WWF history: the Undertaker. I could have sworn it would have been Willie Nelson, but IRS should know! The PENALTY makes McNeany give up in 1:54.

Let Us Take You Back to Superstars, 10/15/94. Paul Bearer pushes a coffin down to ringside to creep out Yokozuna. That’s the most exercise he’s done in months!

  • The Heavenly Bodies vs. Nick Barbarry & Barry Horowitz

Introducing the team that has won more wrestling matches than Elvis Presley and the Beatles combined, the Heavenly Bodies! Vince mentions how the Bodies had their wings clipped by the Smoking Gunns as of late. Barbarry gets owned by the Bodies and eventually pinned with a Doctorbomb and Flying Moonsault by Del Ray at 2:30.

Vince checks in with Lex Luger before we go. He puts over Backlund as the finest technical wrestler ever and since he doesn’t like what he sees in Backlund, he issues out an official challenge. Will Backlund respond tonight? Of course not.

NEXT WEEK: IC Champ Razor Ramon meets Yokozuna. Todd Pettengill will make a special announcement. Plus, Diesel will be in action.

DON’T FORGET ABOUT THE ACTION ZONE THIS SUNDAY AT NOON, JERKS.
