- Razor Ramon vs. The 1-2-3 Kid
Cue the obligatory flashback to May 17 1993 when the Kid hit the MOONSAULT PRESS HEARD ‘ROUND THE WORLD onto Razor Ramon for his first 1-2-3 in his WWF career. Last week after Kid challenged Ramon, he was slapped in the face by Razor and then cried about it. Naturally, Dean Douglas will be watching this match. Kid pearl harbors Razor before he can get his jacket off. The Kid starts ducking clotheslines, but flies into the Fallaway Slam. Not just a Fallaway Slam, but a SUPER FALLAWAY SLAM. Cover, 1-2-NO! Razor throws Kid from corner to corner and starts ramming the shoulder. Kid can’t come back with the hiptoss and flips over using Razor’s head, but finds himself caught into a Chokeslam. Kid then ducks a charge and Razor goes crashing over the top rope to the floor. Back inside, Kid connects with a Spinning Heel Kick for two. Now it’s sleeperhold time. That takes us into commercial. Since this show is taped, Lawler and Vince have to sell the sleeper like Razor has been stuck in the hold for the entire break. Razor fights out with a back suplex. He fires back with a corner clothesline, but then everybody collides into one another, including the ref! With no one watching, Dean Douglas runs out just like last week and splashes Ramon from the top rope. As Kid and ref Hebner crawl back inside, Kid gets another upset pinfall on Ramon. (7:11 shown) This not only adds further heat to Razor’s match with Dean Douglas, but continues the mistrust angle between Razor and Kid, which of course we will see more of at the In Your House PPV. Solid match from these two since they’re Kliq buddies. **½
Time for “The Report Card” with Dean Douglas. The 1-2-3 Kid gets a “D” for dumb. Why? Because he thinks he actually beat Razor Ramon. As for Razor, he gets an “E” for elevate, which is what he’s trying to do for himself by going up against Douglas. The Dean gives himself an “A” for his performance. Obvs. He gives the conclusion of In Your House a grade of “N”, because Dean’s victory there will be a no-brainer. What do all these grades spell? D-E-A-N. Lawler – “He’s brilliant.”
This Past Weekend on Superstars, Ted DiBiase got slopped by Henry Godwinn, setting up Godwinn’s match with Psycho Sid at In Your House.
- Tatanka & Kama (w/Ted DiBiase) vs. Savio Vega & Bob Holly
The MDC can’t figure out Savio and Holly to start. Lawler calls Holly a “hot head”, which we see plenty of examples during this match. Savio Vega plays face in peril and the MDC antagonize Holly as much as possible while he’s on the apron. Holly finally gets the hot tag and lands a missile dropkick on Kama. Match breaks down as Tatanka and Savio brawl to the floor. Meanwhile, Kama catches Holly coming off the top rope with the FLYING BODYPRESS and powerslams him down. Kama lost his balance and still tries to make the move work even though he drops Holly on his neck for the win. Ouuuch. (5:50) I don’t remember them continuing this “hot head” character until maybe when he became Hardcore Holly. *
From the back, Razor Ramon responds to Dean Douglas. He tells Dean to forget about his “ivy league” education because that won’t save him. Chico, Razor is going to carve you up.
- Jean-Pierre Lafitte vs. Brian Walsh
Lafitte wears Bret’s jacket to the ring. He’s also been stealing Bret’s sunglasses from little kids lately. You know, because he’s a French pirate. Vince and Lawler talk to Bret Hart on the phone from the set of “Lonesome Dove”. Bret promises to put the thief in his place this Sunday at In Your House. LE CANNONBALL ends Walsh in 3:19.
Tony Chimel helps reinforce the ring for the next match.
- Non-title match: WWF Tag Team Champions Owen Hart & Yokozuna (w/Jim Cornette & Mr. Fuji) vs. Men on a Mission
Owen and Mo start off this one. Once Mo incapacitates Owen with a powerslam, he tags in King Mabel. Since Owen avoids the Avalanche, Mabel tags in Mo to do some more work. Yoko gets drawn in so that Mabel and Mo can choke Owen in the corner. Owen manages to toss Mo to the floor and tags in Yoko, which brings in Mabel for a hissy fight. Meanwhile, Owen does a number on Mo on the floor. Back inside, Yoko pounds Mo into a very fine powder down into the corner. Commercials! When we return, both Mo and Owen go for Spinning Heel Kicks. Hot tag to Yoko, because nobody really cares about Men on a Mission. This leads to a fisticuffs battle between the big men. Mabel staggers Yoko and puts him down with a jumping clothesline. Vince – “THIS WHOLE BUILDING JUST SHOOK!” In comes Owen, he gets pressed onto Yoko. MOM double clothesline Yoko, but then Owen catches Mo with a knee as he comes off the ropes. Clearly, the tag champs are the better “bad guys”. Mo stops Owen up top for a superplex. Mabel doesn’t like Yoko breaking up the pin, but then Yoko forearm smashes him out of the ring. While Cornette grabs ref Tim White, Owen drop toeholds Mo while Yoko gives him the big nasty smelly LEGDROP. Mabel gets tripped up by Yoko trying to make the save as Owen covers Mo for the pinfall victory. (9:06 shown) Afterwards, it looks like Men on a Mission are having some serious problems as Mabel leaves Mo behind. Vince talks about Owen feels that IC champ Shawn Michaels has been avoiding his challenge. **½
Elsewhere, the Two Dudes with Attitudes promise to become once again the WWF tag champs at In Your House. Diesel can’t wait to come home with his buddy Shawn.
Back in the ring, Vince meets with the tag champs, Mr. Fuji, and Jim Cornette. Well, mostly Jim Cornette because he does all the talking. As Cornette always finds a way to do, he points out the flaws in the opponents of his associates. This one is pretty easy since we’re talking about Diesel and HBK. He knows Owen and Yoko trust each other, but can Diesel and Shawn trust each other? If not, then the Cornette Camp will be leaving In Your House with either the WWF or the IC title come Sunday night. Preferably the WWF title, but they wouldn’t turn the IC title down.
NEXT WEEK: Dark sides collide as the Undertaker meets the British Bulldog!
