May 27, 2015
Los Angeles, CA
The Temple

The current Lucha Underground champs are as follows:
Lucha Underground Champion: Prince Puma (1/7/15)
Lucha Underground Trios Champions: Angelico, Ivelisse & Son of Havoc (4/22/15)
AAA Mega Champion: Alberto El Patron (12/7/14)

Chavo Guerrero meets the Black Lotus before she walks into the Temple telling her he will be her protection. If she really wants revenge, do it in the ring where everybody can see it. Chavo continues on saying that his grandfather Gory Guerrero was there when her parents were killed. The Guerrero family hated the Cuetos as much as she does. It kind of takes the allure out of her character a little bit when she walks up to the building in just some street clothes.

Your hosts are Matt Striker and Brother Vampiro.

  • Johnny Mundo vs. Aerostar

Why is Johnny Mundo a JERK now though? Why can’t he be peeved with the hand that has been dealt to him without being a prick? That makes his character seem much more one-dimensional. If anything, he should be more pissed that he’s up against the likes of somebody like Aerostar who – let’s be honest – isn’t really in his league. Mundo is a top 5 guy in Lucha Underground kayfabe-wise and Aerostar is maybe in the top 15? Anyways, Mundo is pretty rough with the kid to start. Aerostar comes back with some Rey Mysterio-ness with the 6-1-9 and the Springboard Splash for two. Mundo stomps Aerostar to the floor, but Aerostar stops a tope attempt. With Mundo on the floor, Aerostar shows off his nice somersault plancha. Back inside, Mundo kicks the ropes into Aerostar’s nads. STO backbreaker and Russian legsweep gets two. There’s a cobra clutch on the mat, but Aerostar makes the ropes. From the apron, he kicks Mundo back and lands a springboard double knees for two. Mundo cuts off a wheelbarrow move with a backbreaker and heads up for the END OF THE WORLD, but Aerostar sees it coming. He looks for a tilt-a-whirl DDT, but Mundo blocks with a release northern lights suplex into the corner. That’ll be enough to signal the END OF THE WORLD. (6:34) Nice little extended squash for Mundo.

Earlier in the day, Vampiro sat down with Sexy Star. Naturally, they discuss Pentagon Jr. While Vamp realizes he is a scary threat to anybody (much less a WOMAN), Sexy Star isn’t scared of him. Dario Cueto has given Pentagon Jr a rematch with Sexy Star for next week and it will be under submission rules. Vampiro asks her how she will prepare for something like that, but Sexy Star says that Pentagon Jr. has no idea what submission holds she knows.
KINKY~!

  • Lucha Underground Champion Prince Puma (w/Konnan) vs. Hernandez

Puma tries to see if the stick and move strategy works to start. After a few kicks to the head, Hernandez is rolling out to the floor. Puma teases a dive only to back flip to the center of the ring and mock Hernandez. Back inside, Puma knows the slingshot shoulderblock is coming and brings up the knees to block. Hilo by Puma sets up a flying bodypress for two. Hernandez catches Puma with a lariat and stretches his arms in the ropes. He delivers a running senton and then hits the Crackerjack. Look it up. Canadian backbreaker drop from Hernandez only gets two. He catches Puma trying to fly with an Alpha Bomb for 1-2-NO! ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED? It looks like it’s time for the Border Toss, but Puma slips away only to run into a boot to head out to the floor. Sensing he’s in trouble, Konnan distracts the ref while Puma blocks Air Mexico with a steel chair. As Hernandez staggers up, Puma wipes him out again with the Moonsault Twisting Plancha. Before they head back inside, Hernandez overpowers Puma and gives him the BORDER TOSS ONTO THE APRON. Instead of capitalizing on that, he goes for another one. Puma counters and charges Hernandez, but he gets launched onto the top of the barricade. He maintains his balance and flips back onto Hernandez with a corkscrew moonsault. Incredible. Back in, the Springboard 450 Splash gets 1-2-NO! Time for the 630 SENTON, but Hernandez moves out of the way. INVERTED SIDE SLAM by Hernandez gets 1-2-NO! Hernandez looks for the BORDER TOSS, but Puma counters with a sunset flip into the ropes. He stops a bulldog though and slams Puma down. Hernandez heads up top, but hits knees on the way down. After a series of head kicks, Puma gets another nearfall. Puma goes to the top rope again and fights off Hernandez a few times with enziguri kicks. Once Hernandez is down, Puma lands the 630 SENTON for the win to retain the title. (12:46) Not that I was surprised, but it’s always cool to see Puma overcome the odds as at least the finish took him a while for him to get to it. ***

  • Death Match: Mil Muertes (w/Catrina) vs. Fenix

This is the return of Mil Muertes. He’s got crazy eyes, all black attire, and three death mask looking followers. Oh yeah, and Catrina has the Aztec stone with her. Fenix tries to BUM RUSH THE SHOW with a tope suicida on Muertes. COMPLETE AWESOME NO SELL. Fenix tries it again and gets an elbow smash to the face. He then FLINGS Fenix into the ring and starts beating and chopping the crap out of him. It’s just a total beatdown until Fenix stops Muertes up top (why is he up there anyways?) and rope walks to superkick him to the floor. Double jump moonsault plancha onto Muertes takes him out. The comeback is short lived though as Muertes grabs a foot and yanks Fenix into a clothesline. YES. Muertes finds a chair and cracks Fenix across the cranium before jabbing him in the ribs. The three masked dudes continue to follow Catrina around. Meanwhile, Muertes bashes Fenix’s head into the barricade a bunch until Fenix returns the favor. Fenix then climbs the barricade and delivers a DOUBLE STOMP TO MUERTES! Fenix manages to roll the lifeless body back in the ring for only a one count. Muertes NO-SELLS what Fenix is throwing his way and hiptosses him to the floor. As if that fall isn’t bad enough, Muertes climbs to the top and dives down onto Fenix! Muertes takes Fenix over to the announce table and then cracks another chair over his head. With Fenix completely out on his feet, Muertes shows off just how powerful he is and fireman carries Fenix up the stairs over to the balcony. I don’t know what that room is for (a closet of some sort perhaps), but Muertes gives him a POWERBOMB THROUGH THE ROOF. I think Fenix is dead – literally. Alright – Striker thinks the match is over. We take a break only to find that the three masked followers are carrying Fenix to the ring to Mil Muertes – like a lamb to the slaughter. While it should have just ended there, Muertes delivers the FLATLINER and gets the three-count. (9:14 shown) Catrina crawls into the ring and gives Fenix the LICK OF DEATH while Mil and the guys watch. Seemed very anticlimactic and unnecessary to have an actual finish there – in a DEATH MATCH. Anyways, this was quite a return for Mil Muertes in a pretty fun brawl that makes the guy look unstoppable. He’s been my favorite in Lucha Underground since day one, which is weird because I’m not a huge fan of the Undertaker character and mythology. I’m sure Catrina has something to do with this. ***½

Before we go, Dario Cueto lets the Crew decide which one of them will be sacrificed for being epic fail n00bs. Immediately, Cortez Castro and Cisco grab Bael and hand him off to be killed (eaten?) by Dario’s caged brother. Blood goes everywhere. So I guess we won’t be seeing Bael anymore. Oh well.

NEXT WEEK: Sexy Star versus Pentagon Jr. – SUBMISSION MATCH.
