- Colt Cabana & Brent Albright vs. Claudio Castagnoli & Jimmy Rave (w/Prince Nana & Ernie Osiris)
Whoa. Albright without a beard is weird. He looks like a bigger, tattooed Roderick Strong. I don’t think I like Colt’s new theme either. I’m starting off pretty pessimistic in this show review. Big brawl to start as Cabana and Albright press Rave on top of Claudio. Nana gets backed into the ring, allowing Castagnoli to blindside Albright to make him *your* face-in-peril. Wheelbarrow suplex knocks out Rave long enough for a HOT TAG TO CABANA! Flying Butthole misses, and Rave gets rolled up for two. Quebrada from Colt gets two. Now Rave goes all Naomichi Marufuji on Colt by running the ropes right behind him and catches up to Colt for an STO for two. Cabana does a NEAT roll out of a sunset flip from Claudio and tags in Albright. Snap powerslam to Castagnoli, Uranage to Rave! Albright delivers a satellite takedown into the CROWBAR on Claudio! He makes the ropes and avoids the HALF-NELSON SUPLEX by grabbing hold of the ref. Meanwhile, Prince Nana sneaks in and low blows Albright right into the RICOLA BOMB for the win! (8:23) Fun little tag match. Low blowing Albright is almost like a running gag by this point though. Afterwards, Claudio STOMPS a chair on Albright’s head to bust him open. Here comes Necro Butcher and Grizzly Redwood to make the save. I sense an eight man tag in our future. **½
Kyle Durden interviews the American Wolves. They are not impressed at all with Steenerico.
Nigel McGuinness talks to a camera about Tyler Black. More “don’t take your eye off the ball” talk.
- Delirious (w/Daizee Haze) vs. Silas Young
Silas Young is an ugly man. Delirious goes nuts at the bell, but then goes all Lou Thesz on us. He plays around with a headscissors on the mat to start. Silas gets Delirious spit all over his face and then grabs hold of Daizee to sucker punch Delirious. Back in, a Billy Robinson backbreaker gets two. All kinds of rollups from Delirious follows. Flying lariat from Delirious gets two. Young hits the Regal Roll and tries for the ARABIAN PRESS, but it hits knees. Panic Attack sets up SHADOWS OVER HELL for the 1-2-3. (6:45) Actually, not a bad showing from Silas Young. **
- Mark Briscoe (w/Jay Briscoe) vs. “Sugarfoot” Alex Payne
This is Mark’s return match since his knee injury and the crowd wants him to kill poor Sugarfoot dead. He dishes out some corner elbows and a nasty spinning heel kick all to the head to start. Payne delivers a monkey flip and a neckbreaker, but that’s about it. After more annihilation, Payne is able to clip the bad knee and hook on an Indian deathlock. Briscoe reaches the ropes and delivers a jumping enziguri. Super Ace Crusher sets up a Thunder Fire Powerbomb for the 1-2-3. (4:14) Briscoe is looking good. Now just get the team back together. **
- Davey Richards (w/Eddie Edwards, Sara Del Ray & Shane Hagadorn) vs. El Generico (w/Kevin Steen)
Richards has quite the entourage there – except for the fact that Hagadorn’s left arm is in a sling. Generico bulrushes Richards to start and DRILLS him with a Yakuza Kick in the corner. Blue Thunder Bomb gets two. Richards escapes a BRAINBUSTER and heads to the floor to leave through the crowd. Generico won’t let that happen though. Richards begs off back inside and gets dumped to the floor as Generico somersault planchas on both American Wolves. Back in, Richards unloads and goes for the TEXAS CLOVERLEAF to do damage on Generico’s braced up right knee. More explosive action from Davey follows until he misses a Dynamite Headbutt. HERE COMES EL GENERICO! On the floor, Richards sees another dive coming, but doesn’t see Generico float through the turnbuckles into a swinging DDT! That gets two. Richards grabs hold of the ref to avoid the BRAINBUSTER and drills Generico with a jumping enziguri. He charges into a Michinoku Driver for 1-2-NO! Richards blocks a second Yakuza Kick in the corner and takes Generico down with a dragon screw legwhip on the bad knee. Generico avoids a German suplex momentarily, but runs into the Alarm Clock and takes the Bridging German Suplex after all for 1-2-NO! Generico counters the TEXAS CLOVERLEAF with an inside cradle for1-2-NO! Richards wins a slugfest, but charges into a t-bone suplex into the corner! Corner Yakuza Kick sets up a BRAINBUSTAAHH? Of course not. Edwards runs in and saves his partner for the DQ. (9:46) Not a blow away main event, but certainly solid from top to bottom. What’s left of Sweet N Sour Inc. brawls with Steenerico into the crowd as some fans chant “ECW”. ***
Next week, ROHDNet makes its Monday Night Debut with the Black/McGuinness main event, which is all but guaranteed to please!
