WWF RAW 2/1/1993

World Wrestling Federation presents RAW 2-1-1993
From: Manhattan Center, New York City

Opening Contest: Tatanka versus Damian Demento

Nothing special here, typical Demento matches. Demento got a few generic offense moves but falls victim to a Samoan Drop as Tatanka picks up a fairly easy win.

Clips of Bret Hart with a check for the “Headlock on Hunger”. The check was for $100,000.

Vince McMahon introduces Brutus Beefcake for an interview. This is the return of Beefcake to the WWF. Beefcake’s huge announcement is that he is returning to the ring. Beefcake really stumbles through the interview. Beefcake brings up the death of his parents, the divorce with his wife and then his injury to the face. The only reaction he gets is when he mentions Hulk Hogan. Beefcake lets it be known he has a open contract to be signed.

Jim Duggan calls in during the match and says that he thinks he can get Yoko off his feet. As for the match, Yoko wins following the Bonzai Drop.

Vince McMahon introduces the WWF World Tag Team Champions, Money Inc. Ted DiBiase quickly rips on Brutus Beefcake. Ted says that he and I.R.S will flip a coin to see who will face Beefcake. Ted wins without showing the coin to I.R.S. Jimmy Hart comes down and tells them that this doesn’t need to happen. Hart tells the champs to stop clowning around as they have serious business to deal with.

Main Event: Lex Luger versus Jason Knight

As Luger is posing in the mirror, a rather large female comes into the ring and walks around with the sign “RAW”, which is usually done by a skinny female. Before the match, we see Mr. Perfect throwing passes to Steve Jordan of the Minnesota Vikings. Perfects manages to throw the ball far and catch it himself. Back to the match, Luger dominates and nails Knight with a running forearm. Luger proceeds to pin Knight with his pinkie finger.
After the match, Luger beats down his opponent.

Commercials

Vince McMahon goes over the matches that will occur in two weeks. They include a sixteen man battle royal and Ted DiBiase taking on Brutus Beefcake.

End of show

My Take:
This weeks show was centered around Beefcake returning and judging by the reaction of the crowd they don’t care. The only way they care is if Hulk Hogan makes a return. DiBiase being the man to answer the challenge is both good and bad. Its good to see DiBiase involved in a possibly big angle. The bad being that he will most likely lose to Beefcake. Let’s just hope its not cleanly.
