WWF RAW 3/8/1993
World Wrestling Federation presents RAW 3-8-1993
From: Manhattan Center, New York City
A promo by the Mega Maniacs is shown to start the show. Hogan makes a ridiculous rhyme. The rhyme involves humpty dumpy and Beefcake’s mug. Basically after that ridiculous statement, Hogan sings and says they will win the WWF World Tag Team Championships. Yes, he goes on to sing “getting to know you!”. Another SNL rip off segment to start the show.
RAW Opening Video
Opening Contest: Money Inc. versus Virgil/Tito Santana
A fairly uneventful contest is finally ended with IRS pinning Virgil following a suplex in seven and half minutes.
We see highlights of Tatanka and his victories over Shawn Michaels in non-title contests.
Rick Martel comes down to the ring and insults the looks of a female who is holding a sign. The lady leaves and Martel proceeds to do her job by holding the sign.

Second Contest: Tatanka versus Phil Apollo
Shawn Michaels calls in during the match and rips on Tatanka throughout the match. Tatanka picks up the win following several chops and a Samoan Drop.
Wrestle Mania Report time with Gene. Gene goes over the double main event which is the WWF World Tag Team and WWF World Heavyweight championship matches. Bret Hart and Yokozuna cut promos on each other. Bret says that he respects Yokozuna but he will walk out of Wrestle Mania still the WWF World Heavyweight Champion. Mr. Fuji cuts a promo on behalf of Yokozuna basically saying that he is going to beat Bret Hart. Lastly, Undertaker cuts a promo on Giant Gonzalez after what he did at the Royal Rumble.
We go back to RAW and Rick Martel is doing the same thing he just did not even five minutes ago.

Third Contest: Papa Shango versus Mike Edwards
Shango gets a squash and beats Edwards following a shoulder breaker.

Fourth Contest: Bob Backlund versus Tony Demoro
Demoro is a jacked up young man. So naturally, a really old skinny guy will beat him easily. Demoro to his credit can get some good heel heat. Backlund is surprisingly still over with the NYC crowd. A very slow contest which ends with a butterfly suplex by Backlund.
Bob Bartlett is backstage with Rick Martel. Martel pokes fun at Bob and says that he doesn’t have any class, just like the ring girls.

Main Event: Rick Martel versus Mr. Perfect
Not much to mention here, besides a terrible use of time. The finish was missed live as that occurred during commercial, so they showed the finish afterwards. That’s one of the first times I’ve witnessed that. Mr. Perfect wins following a Perfect Plex in seven and half minutes.
Commercials
Mr. Perfect brings out the ring models and models them off in the ring.
End of show
My Take: If you’re a fan of Rick Martel then this a show that you’ll enjoy because you will get plenty of Martel. Nothing was overly good on this show, though their was a good amount of hype for some matches heading into Wrestle Mania IX. Looks like Tatanka is the number one contender for the WWF Intercontinental Championship, which gets a thumbs up from me.
