WWF: Monday Night Raw (04.10.95)

Monday Night Raw
April 10, 1995
Poughkeepsie, NY
Mid-Hudson Civic Center

The current WWF champs were as follows:
World Champion: Diesel (11/26/1994)
Intercontinental Champion: Jeff Jarrett (1/22/1995)
World Tag Team Champions: Owen Hart & Yokozuna (4/2/1995)
Women’s Champion: Alundra Blayze (4/3/1995)

Your hosts are Vince McMahon and Jerry Lawler.

  • Tatanka (w/Ted DiBiase) vs. Adam Bomb

Slow chopfest from Tatanka. Adam Bomb gets his hope spots in, but this is just primarily boring stuff. Commercial break. When we come back, a DDT from Tatanka gets two. Chinlock signals a comeback from Adam Bomb complete with clotheslines! Tatanka bails and Adam Bomb follows him out as they brawl for the double-countout. (5:50 shown) Borrrrring. ¾*

  • The New Headshrinkers (w/Afa & Capt. Lou Albano) vs. Mike Bell & Tony DeVito

Mike Bell tries a DOUBLE NOGGIN KNOCKER on the Headshrinkers and it’s all downhill from there for the jobbers. Raw being the lead-in for Duckman, that show gets a lot of love this month. I loved Duckman though, so I’m fine with it. Before he starts making a difference, Fatu jumps over Sionne for the flying splash on DeVito for the win at 2:55.

Jean Pierre Lafitte promo. He will be making his Raw debut next week!

Also, Bob Holly won a race (booked to win?) this past Saturday at the Mobile International Speedway! ALL SPORTS ARE FIXED!

Alright, now we get the footage that was conveniently missed during the break last week of Psycho Sid beating down Shawn Michaels for giving him the night off in the Diesel-Michaels WWF title rematch. Sid delivers THREE powerbombs before Diesel runs him off. Afterwards, Shawn does a stretcher job selling a back injury. He’ll be out for about six weeks.

  • Kama (w/Ted DiBiase) vs. Scott Taylor

Kama shows off his martial arts skills with boxing jabs and a pump splash to end Taylor at 2:43.

Let Us Take You Back To: Raw, 4/3/95. Alundra Blayze defeated Bull Nakano to regain the WWF Women’s title, but was then attacked by a rather strange and rather large-looking woman who kicked Alundra in the nose ultimately taking her out of action.

  • The 1-2-3 Kid, Bob Holly, & Bret Hart vs. Hakushi, Owen Hart & Yokozuna (w/Shinja, Mr. Fuji & Jim Cornette)

This looks fun. Bret and Yoko (WM 10 MAIN EVENT~!) start us off. He uses his speed to handle Yoko. Tag to Holly, oh boy. Yoko refuses his armwringer and tags Hakushi. Holly catches him with a dropkick, couple of slams, and armdrags Hakushi into an armbar. Raw Will Continue. AND WE’RE BACK! Owen and the Kid enter the match. Kid hits Owen with his spinning heel kick, but then Hakushi nails Kid from the apron knocking him into Owen’s signature Spinning Heel Kick that puts them all down. It only gets two though. Yoko tags and headbutts Kid down for the nerve hold. Back to Hakushi, he delivers that pretty pump splash on the Kid for another nearfall. Tag to Owen, he levels Kid with a backbreaker as we take another break. When we return, the heels cut off a tag for the Kid to keep this thing rolling. Hakushi busts out a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker, but then Kid blocks a headscissors into a powerbomb to set up the HOT TAG TO BRET! Series of clotheslines on Yoko staggers him into a flying bulldog by Bret. Flying elbow gets 1-2-NO! Bret flips in Hakushi, who is a guy he’s got a score to settle with for sure. Yoko saves the day for him though and hands Bret over to Owen. Owen hits him with the Enziguri and drops a nasty knee drop on him, but then Bret slips out of a slam and blind tags Holly. Bret ducks a clothesline and dropkicks Owen into a rollup by Holly for the 1-2-3! (8:38 shown) Yeah, definitely a fun match. This sets up next week’s main event as Cornette puts the tag titles up against (former champs) the 1-2-3 Kid and Bob Holly. ***¼

Still obsessed with having football players at WrestleMania 11, they show the entrance of Lawrence’s Taylor entourage for that match.

NEXT WEEK: Owen Hart and Yokozuna defend the WWF tag titles against the 1-2-3 Kid and Bob Holly!
