In case you missed last week, here are some highlights:
NOW ONTO THIS WEEK:
Black Lotus goes to Dario Cueto’s office to let him know she stopped El Dragon Azteca Jr. from trying to kill his brother Matanza. She has kept asking herself why she stopped him though. If she finds out that Dario lied to her about the original El Dragon Azteca killing her parents, Dario will have to answer to her and the entire Black Lotus triad. Cueto says he is the only one who has told her the truth. He brings up Ultima Lucha Dos and says he wants her to be a big part of the show. Dario books the Black Lotus against El Dragon Azteca Jr. Once she beats him, she can take his mask to the Black Lotus triad so that her parents can finally rest in peace. Wow, our first match for the WrestleMania of Lucha Underground.
HIPSTER BAND OF THE WEEK: Voodoo Glow Skulls.
Your hosts are Matt Striker and Vampiro.
- Killshot vs. Marty the Moth
Rematch from the 5/18 show where Marty stole Killshot’s dog tags. He seems to be talking to them before the match. Anywho, these two end up brawling on the floor immediately as Killshot takes a powerbomb bump into the rusty guardrail. The ref is pretty lenient with the count here, but has no choice but to count them both out as Marty takes a ride into the announce table. (1:20) When referees try to get them separated, they get knocked down by Marty. He turns around and eats a PK from Killshot. That harms Marty easily enough so that Killshot can retrieve his dog tags. Killshot is so enamored with his dog tags that he doesn’t notice Marty coming up behind him for a German suplex. Marty gets the dog tags back and barely makes his escape to the floor, which we know after nearly 30 years of watching wrestling that if you are in the ring and your opponent is on the floor, there’s really nothing you can do to them at that point. *
We now go to a police interrogation room where Cisco is waiting. Detectives Joey Ryan and Cortez Castro (who have real names, but I don’t remember what they are at this time) enter the room. Cortez tells Cisco not to make this harder than it needs to be and Cisco spits at him. The lady captain or whatever walks in and spouts off Cisco’s alleged rap sheet. Armed robbery, disturbing the peace, assault, accessory to murder – and the list goes on, but seems to stop right there. The lady captain wants Cisco to wear a wire and I assume all his crimes go away. At first Cisco says “hell no”, but reconsiders. Dario is apparently involved in drug trafficking, money smuggling, and MURDERRRRR, says the captain. She also thinks Dario Cueto is the lynch pin to the “end of days”. LOLWUT? And to think all Vince McMahon had to do to get heat was screw over Bret Hart and not want Steve Austin to be his company’s champion.
- Nunchucks Match: Aerostar & Drago vs. Jack Evans & PJ Black
Jack Evans goes back to calling himself the Dragon Slayer now that Drago is back. Basically a weapons match here. Sets of nunchucks are hanging around throughout the Temple. Texas tornado rules apply here as well. Aerostar splits off with Black while Drago gets his hands on Jack Evans. Once Aerostar takes out PJ with a crazy dive, he helps double team Evans. Drago flips Aerostar over into a sunset flip onto Evans, but then Aerostar flips Evans back up to his feet into a kick from Drago. PJ Black saves the day for Evans as they give Aerostar their double-stomp finish. They even have a moment to play some air guitar and a riff is added in post. With one set of nunchucks hanging ten feet in the air, Evans climbs on PJ’s shoulders to try to reach them. Aerostar intercepts Evans and takes him out by leaping off the guardrail. Back to ringside, Black wipes out Drago and Aerostar with a tope suicida while Evans delivers a springboard moonsault. They brawl up the steps where Evans retrieves one pair of nunchucks to abuse Drago and Aerostar. When Drago retrieves a pair of his own, he uses them to the best of his ability on Evans and Black before taking him down with a somersault plancha off one of the high staging areas. Over on the roof of Dario Cueto’s office, Evans and Aerostar battle over a pair of nunchucks. When Aerostar gains control of the nunchucks, Evans climbs down and crashes into Black. This of course leads to a crazy dive from Aerostar taking them both out. WE ARE ROCKING IN THE IMPACT ZONE~! In the ring, Drago goes crazy on Evans with nunchucks one last time before spraying him with GREEN MIST and pinning him with the DRAGON’S TAIL. (7:55) This was a pretty fun revenge match for Drago and Aerostar. It certainly should put them in contention for a trios title match now. ***
- Fenix, Ivelisse, King Cuerno, Johnny Mundo, Taya & Chavo Guerrero vs. Rey Mysterio, Prince Puma, Son of Havoc, The Mack, Sexy Star & Texano
The winning team will square off next week to see who will face the Lucha Underground champion at Ultima Lucha Dos. Not a big fan of that idea. Before the match, PENTAGON JR. wheels himself out behind Chavo Guerrero. He thanks Chavo for being the only one who has supported him while he has been gone. He then dramatically stands up out of his wheelchair and tells Chavo that now he must destroy him. Oh boy. Pentagon Jr. attacks Chavo and makes him his next sacrifice to his master. CERO MIEDO~! Commercials.
When we return, Dario Cueto and the Black Lotus appear from his office. He welcomes Pentagon Jr. back to the Temple and is amazed that he’s even walking again after what his brother Matanza did to him. Since Chavo caught a bad break (HAR), there needs to be a replacement. He wants to give the believers what they want and asks the crowd if they want to see Pentagon Jr. in this match. Of course they say yes. Dario then asks Pentagon to make sure this is what he really wants. CERO MIEDO~! So yeah, he wants in. RING THE BELL!
- Fenix, Ivelisse, King Cuerno, Johnny Mundo, Taya & Pentagon Jr. vs. Rey Mysterio, Prince Puma, Son of Havoc, The Mack, Sexy Star & Texano
While Team Fenix is all arguing with each other, the more focused Sexy Star sneaks a rollup on Taya for two. Sexy shines against Taya for a little bit before she armdrags Taya out to the floor. In comes Havoc and Ivelisse. Striker mentions their romantic history together and how that could factor in here. They both score nearfalls on each other and tag out without damaging one another. Now it’s time for Pentagon and the Mack. They however do look to damage each other. Pentagon hits a lungblower on Mack and slaps the crap out of his chest. A flying knee strike from the Mack takes out Pentagon though. Fenix kicks Mack in the face and a springboard missile dropkick gets two. Mack wipes him out with the POUNCE-ah, period. Cuerno cuts off Mysterio immediately with a big boot. Mysterio fights back with headscissors and wheelbarrow bulldogs. Mundo breaks up a pin, but Puma is right there to wipe out Mundo with a missile dropkick before he gets cute with Rey. Tag to Texano, he hits a Rough Ryder on Cuerno for two. Cuerno fires back with an armdrag and a standing dropkick. In comes Mundo, he hits a low knee strike on Texano for two. Texano corners Mundo and gets annoyed with Taya bothering him. She gets sent into Mundo’s nuts and chopped down. Texano brings Mundo over to his corner to tag Puma, but Mundo was faking injury and pokes Texano in the eye! Before Puma can do anything but get in the ring, Mundo throws him into Mysterio and then out to the floor. AWESOME. Texano gets dumped by Cuerno for the tope suicida. This kickstarts a bunch of people taking dives. All the women do it because women’s lib or something. It comes down to Mysterio and Mundo in the ring. Puma cuts off Mundo from taking a dive. Mundo ends up taking the 619, but then Mundo kicks Rey off into Puma to avoid the 630 Senton. Mundo wipes out Mysterio with the Flying Chuck and delivers a SOLO SPANISH FLY to Puma for the three-count! (12:53) Fun match, but I think we all know where this is going now right? ***½
Meanwhile in King Cuerno’s trophy room, Catrina appears at the casket of Mil Muertes to use the Aztec stone to raise him up from the dead – AGAIN. Oh, it’s on.
NEXT WEEK: Fenix, Ivelisse, King Cuerno, Johnny Mundo, Taya & Pentagon Jr. square off to find a number one contender to Matanza’s Lucha Underground championship for Ultima Lucha Dos! It begins in FOUR WEEKS!
