MANKIND BECOMES REGAINS THE WWF TITLE WITH THE AID OF A FORKLIFT: We start tonight’s program with highlights from the “Empty Arena” match between the Rock and Mankind and the back-and-forth from RAW where Mankind and the Rock agreed to a “Last Man Standing” match at the St. Valentine’s Day Massacre PPV.
HOT ENOUGH? Your host is Kevin Kelly – all by himself for now. That goatee has got to go. Kevin Kelly has got to be part of the reason why Vince hates facial hair.
VINCE McMAHON and SHANE McMAHON are joined by CHYNA, PAT PATTERSON, and GERALD BRISCO as they head down to the ring. Vince says he doesn’t want to completely humiliate Triple H by putting him in a match with Chyna, so instead he announces Triple H and X-Pac will team up against Chyna and Kane at the St. Valentine’s Day Massacre PPV. Now Vince brings up the Last Man Standing match between the Rock and Mankind over the WWF championship. The reason this match is happening is because Mankind is a thief by stealing the Rock’s $100,000. If it hadn’t been for Mr. Socko and a fork lift, the Rock would still be the WWF champion. Vince is confident the Rock will regain his rightful place as the WWF champion – and that Mankind will never wrestle again. In fact, Mankind may never walk again. YIKES. Now Vince is ready to discuss Stone Cold Steve Austin. He claims Austin walked away from him last week on RAW because he’s afraid of defeat. He’s afraid of history repeating itself after Vince singlehandedly eliminated him at the Royal Rumble. Austin doesn’t know how, but he knows Vince has a plan and will defeat him at St. Valentine’s Day Massacre. And thus, Austin’s career will be massacred. Just to make sure Mankind and Steve Austin are ready for the PPV, he books a warm-up match for RAW Saturday Night between Mankind and Austin in a non-title affair. To wrap it up, Vince wishes both Mankind and Austin from the bottom of his heart – happy Valentine’s day. Vince is REALLY enjoying that “No Chance in Hell” as he busts a move on his way out as only Vince can.
- Too Much vs. The Oddities (w/Giant Silva)
Shane McMahon joins Kevin Kelly at the announce table. DROZ shows up and dares Silva to come after him as they go backstage. Okay, then. Too Much bumps around for Kurrgan and Golga for the whole match – because why wouldn’t they. We go backstage where Droz blasts Giant Silva with a chair and leaves him laying. Meanwhile, the DISCIPLES OF APOCALYPSE (WHY ARE THEY BACK?) come out to ringside. One of them distracts Kurrgan and the ref while the other twin sneaks in and DDTs Golga. He puts Christopher on top of Golga and the ref counts the pinfall. (2:24) I didn’t care for this. ½*
We get a cool video package highlighting the feud between Al Snow and Road Dogg.
Earlier today, Michael Cole talked with AL SNOW backstage about what he’s going to do to show he’s more hardcore than Road Dogg. He then proceeds to inflict harm on himself – including spraying himself in the face with a fire extinguisher. Al even puts himself through a table. One thing is for sure – Snow will take the Hardcore title and make him pay for turning on him.
Elsewhere, it looks like VAL VENIS is making out with RYAN SHAMROCK – Ken’s sister. YIKES.
WRESTLEMANIA 15 – 8 WEEKS AWAY – MARCH 28.
- WWF Intercontinental Championship: Ken Shamrock (c) vs. The Godfather (w/ladies of the evening)
Shamrock starts off hot against Godfather – taking him from corner to corner. Godfather catches Shamrock with a hook kick and hits the Ho Train. He slams Shamrock and tries the pump splash, but Shamrock brings up the knees to block. Powerslam by Shamrock gets two. There’s the Belly to Belly Suplex. Just as Shamrock is looking to put away Godfather, Val Venis shows up on the TitanTron. All you can see is from the chest up, but Val seems to be getting a blowjob. Next thing we know, Ryan Shamrock stands up and looks in the camera. Ken Shamrock loses his mind and runs after Val and Ryan as Godfather wins via countout. (2:40) Godfather celebrates with his talent as we go to commercial. *
When we return, Ken Shamrock is seen assaulting Val Venis. Ryan Shamrock is watching on and freaking out. She tells Ken she’s in love with Val. Ken then picks up Ryan and leaves out the back door with her.
- Luna vs. Jacqueline (w/Terri Runnels)
SABLE joins us for extra special commentary. She and Shane McMahon spend the whole match arguing over how she’s just a showpiece. Shoot comments? D’LO BROWN comes out to yell at Jacqueline for being a lying bitch. As she turns around, Luna drops her with a DDT for the win. (2:30) Apparently, Luna is getting another WWF women’s title shot. Wait, is Luna supposed to be a babyface now? ½*
- Elimination Match for the WWF Tag Team Championship: Owen Hart & Jeff Jarrett (c) (w/Debra) vs. Triple H & X-Pac vs. D’Lo Brown & Mark Henry
Shane McMahon talks smack to X-Pac from the announce table. Owen and D’Lo start the match with headlocks and shoulderblocks. Owen fires back with a hiptoss and tags in Jarrett. D’Lo plants Jarrett with a powerslam and the D’Lo Leg Drop. Tag to Henry, Jarrett gets out of a corner, thumbs Henry in the eye, and tags in X-Pac. That’s right – you can tag anybody. It’s like WCW 1996. Now we get X-Pac and D’Lo, which was a great rivalry in 1998. X-Pac does the flip out of the hiptoss and puts D’Lo down with a spinning heel kick. Brown comes right back with the SKY HIGH. Before he can capitalize, Jarrett sneaks in and nails D’Lo with one of the tag belts. X-Pac covers D’Lo for the three-count at 3:30.
The match breaks down as Triple H dumps out Jarrett. DX clotheslines Owen down and follow up with Triple H’s High Knee. HERE COMES CHYNA! Now what. Commercials! When we return, X-Pac sends Owen out to the floor to regroup with Jarrett and Debra. X-Pac then gets all distracted by the tag champs, but comes right back with a spinning heel kick to Jarrett. He beats Jarrett down for the Bronco Buster. Shane calls X-Pac a move stealer because he patented the move. As Jarrett slinks out, Triple H sends him into the steps. Meanwhile, X-Pac misses a corner charge for the Bobby Eaton bump. Owen lands a reverse neckbreaker and a running legdrop on X-Pac for two. He sets up X-Pac for the Sharpshooter, but Triple H saves the day with a dropkick (yes, a dropkick). Tag to Triple H, he goes HIGH KNEE CRAZY on the tag champs. Owen eats the Facebuster while X-Pac sends Jarrett into the ringpost. As Triple H goes for the Pedigree, Chyna sneaks in and low blows him. Owen rolls up Triple H for the three-count. (8:00 shown) Big win for the tag champs here as they just whooped their two of their top challengers. Now that Road Dogg and Billy Gunn are doing the singles thing, these might *be* the only two tag teams left to be taken somewhat seriously. **
No RAW tomorrow night thanks to the dog show. RAW Saturday Night is COMING.
Until then, so long for now.
