WHAT A MASSACRE IT’S GOING TO BE: The show starts with a fancy video package hyping up the STEEL CAGE MATCH between Steve Austin and Vince McMahon, but the only way you can see it is by calling your local cable provider and demanding the ST. VALENTINE’S DAY MASSACRE PPV!

HOT ENOUGH? Your host is Kevin Kelly – all by himself.

SHANE McMAHON welcomes his pops VINCE McMAHON out to the ring. Shane joins Kevin over at the announce table for the rest of the show. Vince recalls all the times he’s gotten the better of Steve Austin recently – starting with Vince’s win in the Royal Rumble match. A camera backstage shows STEVE AUSTIN sitting back watching the show. Vince makes Austin an offer that they don’t even have to have the cage match tonight to prevent Austin any further embarrassment. He’s got some “big plans” he can execute if need be, but don’t make Vince do it. Break your contract by the end of HeAT tonight, Austin! If Austin doesn’t have the guts to face Vince before HeAT ends, he’ll come looking for him. We check back in with Austin to see him throwing the backstage monitor against a wall.

Due to injuries suffered on RAW Saturday Night, Road Dogg has been forced to vacate the WWF Hardcore title and thus a *new* WWF Hardcore champion will be crowned tonight on the PPV. It’s going to be Al Snow versus Bob Holly for the title.

A limo pulls up to the building. WHO COULD BE IN THAT LIMO?

Elsewhere backstage, DOMINIC DENUCCI returns to the WWF and catches up with the WWF champion MANKIND. He trained Mick Foley, dontcha know. Because Dominic heard the Rock call Mick a “jabroni”, he wants Mankind to *dropkick* the Rock really hard. Mick reminds Dominic that the last time he and the Rock wrestled on PPV, the Rock tried to electrocute him, so dropkicking the Rock just might not be enough. To help Mankind prepare for his match, Dominic brings over BOB BACKLUND and the IRON SHEIK. Mick then points out he was in MSG the night that Iron Sheik made Bob Backlund throw in the towel. Bob asks Foley not to exacerbate him, but Foley says he would never “exacerbate” right before a big match. Hiyooooo.

  • Test (w/the Big Boss Man) vs. Viscera (w/Mideon)

Kelly reminds us this is the first match between the Corporation and the Ministry of Darkness, which tells me there’s more to come. Speaking of which, Big Boss Man and Mideon is announced for tonight’s PPV. Nothing really to talk about here. Viscera gives a Test a NEEDLESS piledriver and splashes him. Boss Man breaks up the pin with his night stick and wipes out Viscera and Mideon for the DQ in 2:20. ¼*

Michael Cole checks in with BILLY GUNN backstage to see how he’s preparing for the guest referee job tonight in the IC title match between Ken Shamrock and Val Venis. Gunn says he looks good and can count to three, which is the main qualifiers. On a personal note, Billy welcomes bribes from Ken and Val. Before that, he needs to take care of the 7-Eleven manager in the ring. YIKES.

Elsewhere, THE ROCK is in the middle of an interview to find his personal masseuse as he gets ready for his WWF title match tonight. Her qualifications are that she has a Ph.D. from Harvard (a massage therapist?), she’s been a physical trainer for six years, and she loves pancakes. It doesn’t matter what her name is, naturally. We catch the other talent the Rock has been interviewing for most of the day, which appears to be a series of strippers and hookers – or $2 dollar skanks, according to the Rock. He then tells them all to get their candy asses away from him – including that chick from Harvard! C’mon Rock!

The “future mayor of Memphis” JERRY LAWLER heads down to the ring to a huge ovation. He brings out DEBRA to see if she’s concerned about Owen Hart and Jeff Jarrett’s WWF world tag title defense tonight against Mark Henry and D’Lo Brown. Debra really thinks Lawler is talking about Ivory, so out comes IVORY. Debra wants to change tonight’s match into a six-person tag. Ivory doesn’t fall for Debra’s idea because she really feels Mark Henry and D’Lo Brown could win the tag titles tonight. If Debra gets anywhere near her boys tonight, Ivory vows to tear Debra’s clothes right off her back. That comment leads to some more cat fighting that we saw last night. OWEN HART, JEFF JARRETT, D’LO BROWN, and MARK HENRY come out to separate the two females. The crowd seems more interested in calling Owen a “nugget” though, which is great.

We follow up with Dominic DeNucci, Iron Sheik, Bob Backlund, and the WWF champion Mankind backstage. Sheiky baby shows off working the Persian clubs. Mankind wants to use the clubs as a weapon instead.

Michael Cole tries to break into Steve Austin’s dressing room to see if he’ll respond to Vince McMahon, but Austin says nothing and slams the door back in Cole’s face. NICE.

Elsewhere, Billy Gunn is shown counting some money from an envelope when RYAN SHAMROCK stops by to have a chat sitting in Billy’s lap. YIKES.

They play a video package to hype the Ken Shamrock and Val Venis IC title match for the PPV.

  • Billy Gunn (w/Triple H & X-Pac) vs. Tiger Ali Singh

Tiger Ali Singh comes out and talks smack on the American people. When Shane sees the rest of available DX members coming to the ring with Gunn, he decides to leave to go talk to his pops, as Triple H grabs a headset. Billy is wearing his referee shirt. Another nothing match. Ref Mike Chioda gets bumped. Gunn hits the Rocker Dropper and covers Tiger Ali. There’s no ref, but out comes VAL VENIS to count the pinfall. (:40) KEN SHAMROCK runs down to trade punches with Val. Once he wins the slugfest, Gunn shoves Shamrock out to the floor. To show he has no allegiance to either guy, Gunn clotheslines Val down as well and sends him out to Shamrock for more brawling. SUCK IT. Test and Boss Man come out to calm down Shamrock as DX screw around in the ring. N/R

Elsewhere, Dominic is showing Mick Foley some counter holds. He still thinks a dropkick will take out the Rock, but Mick isn’t quite convinced. We check in backstage with Vince McMahon and the stooges PAT PATTERSON and GERALD BRISCO. Vince says if he can’t get Austin to break his contract, he doesn’t want any Corporation interference – and that’s that.

Rock versus Mankind video package airs.

We catch Bob Backlund going crazy demanding Mankind to run the stairs to get his heart in the best possible condition. Next thing we know, the Rock comes through a door and attacks Mick’s knee with a CO2 tank. There’s also a pallet on the steps for some reason. Rock smashes the pallet down on Mick’s knee as well. Backlund, Sheik, and DeNucci are all yelling at the Rock to stop. IT’S A WILD SCENE.

Time for the main event interview. WILL AUSTIN BREAK HIS CONTRACT BY PUTTING HIS HANDS ON McMAHON? Look how angry Vince is! He naturally tries to goad out Austin with a threat of a big plan, but instead he gets the return of COMMISSIONER SHAWN MICHAELS. He says he really wants to punch Vince in the face, but then Vince tells Shawn that Austin is hiding behind Shawn’s “degenerate ass” and everybody knows it. *GLASS BREAKS* Out comes Steve Austin to the ring in his camo. Vince spits a loogie right in Austin’s face to try and provoke him. Austin instead calls Vince a “dumb sonuvabitch” and says he’s going to wash the spit off in Vince’s blood during the cage match, and that’s the bottom line.

UP NEXT IS THE PAY-PER-VIEW! I wonder how many buys were added thanks to this show.

Until then, so long for now.
