WWF: Monday Night Raw (01.03.94)

Monday Night Raw
January 3, 1994
Poughkeepsie, NY
Mid-Hudson Civic Center

The current WWF champs were as follows:
World Champion: Yokozuna (6/13/1993)
Intercontinental Champion: Razor Ramon (9/27/1993)
World Tag Team Champions: The Quebecers (9/13/1993)

SIDENOTE: Don’t worry. I haven’t forgotten about the last Raw of April 1997. It’s coming.

Meanwhile in the Undertaker’s work shop. He’s building a super LARGE casket made to fit for a certain sumo man for the Royal Rumble. Paul Bearer continues on about a contract clause. What of your future, Yokozuna? OHHHHHH YESSSS.

This Past Weekend: Wrestling Challenge, 1/2/94 – Jim Cornette complains about a contract clause that states Yokozuna/Undertaker at the Royal Rumble will be a casket match. Cornette says that clause wasn’t there when he first signed the contract. Anyways, interviewer Stan Lane keeps saying the word casket like it’s the word of the day and he’s on Pee Wee’s Playhouse. The problem with that is that Yokozuna doesn’t like that word very much. He’s SKEERED of caskets – or maybe it’s just the word. People have weird phobias. Who knows. Now let’s get raw.

Raw: The Beginning (Best of Seasons 1-2)
Released: August 10, 2010
Season One (1993) – Disc Two

Sorry for the delay on disc two. Everybody knows it’s that time again to get back to school, so it’s been a busy week among many other regular everyday life situations that are common to pretty much everyone that keeps me away from reviewing what I love. Anyways, you don’t want to hear about my life. Let’s get to the review! Read the rest of this entry

Thursday Raw Thursday (02.13.97)

Thursday Raw Thursday
February 13, 1997
Lowell, MA
Memorial Auditorium
LIVE!

The current WWF champs were as follows:
World Champion: Shawn Michaels (1/19/1997)
Intercontinental Champion: Hunter Hearst Helmsley (10/21/1996)
World Tag Team Champions: Owen Hart & Davey Boy Smith (9/22/1996)

Since the dog show interrupted Monday Night Raw’s regular timeslot and left WCW’s flagship program completely unopposed considering I highly doubt too many wrestling fans wanted to see which person’s dog took home the gold or whatever happens on those things, the WWF and the USA network fought back with a stacked card just three days before the next In Your House PPV with their own completely unopposed one-night-only wrestling program – THURSDAY RAW THURSDAY!

And they start us off with a bomb shell… “Tonight, the World Wrestling Federation Title will be declared vacant. Thus, this Sunday’s ‘Final Four’ winner will become the new World Wrestling Federation Champion. Tonight…live…Shawn Michaels will forfeit the World Wrestling Federation Championship.”

Your hosts are Vince McMahon, Good Ol’ JR, and Jerry “The King” Lawler. Read the rest of this entry

Scott & Justin’s Royal Rumble 1994

Review of Royal Rumble 1994: Featuring LIVE notes from the Civic Center

***Note from Justin – As a precaution, I will probably be overly optimistic and biased towards this show, as I was there live, and it was the first major show I was in attendance for, so it holds a special place in the wrestling section of my heart. I will try to be somewhat objective, but being there live has skewed my view of it, and I will whole-heartedly admit that. I will be talking more about the crowd feel and basics of the stories, while Scott talks more about the matches…also, even though it was 10 years ago, I will try to remember what was going on live in the arena, and will add those tidbits marked off by *** as we go***
