The current NWA & TNA Champs were as follows:
NWA World Champion: Jeff Jarrett (9/15/2005)
NWA World Tag Team Champions: The Naturals (4/29/2005)
TNA X-Division Champion: AJ Styles (9/11/2005)

So now, the Spike TV era begins. TNA just continues to prove everybody wrong. Love the video that showcases the champs. It lets the new viewer know immediately who is important. Plus, there’s a new intro to the show!

Your hosts are Mike Tenay and Don West.

  • TNA X-Division Champion AJ Styles vs. Roderick Strong

Tenay mentions a poll on TNAwrestling.com where the fans voted to see AJ Styles in the opening match. Fixed or not, it’s certainly a no-brainer decision. Roderick attacks AJ while he’s taking off his jacket, but armdrags from Styles screws over Strong. AJ flips out of a release German suplex and gives Strong a spinebuster in the corner. Now Styles elbows out of a waistlock and hammers Strong with the Best Dropkick in the Biz. As Strong rolls to the floor, AJ meets him on the outside with a somersault plancha. Back in, that gets two. Styles applies the Muta Deathlock when Christopher Daniels heads down to yell at AJ for taking his title back at Unbreakable. That gives Tenay a chance to announce Ironman II for AJ and Daniels. This temporary distraction allows Strong to hit the back suplex into a backbreaker for two. AJ fights out of a camel clutch and hits an enziguri followed by the PELE KICK! Quebrada DDT sets up the STYLES CLASH for the 1-2-3. (4:02) That starts the show off with a bang while also showing WWE fans that might be watching for the first time how you’re different. **

In the back with Shane Douglas, Monty Brown welcomes us to the Serengeti.

Elsewhere, we see Raven beating up people with a trash can which results in him getting carted off by security.

  • Monty Brown vs. Lex Lovett

POOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOUNCE, period. (1:04).

  • Petey Williams vs. Chris Sabin vs. Alex Shelley

The action is just so fast here. You’re crazy if you think I can transcribe it to you. High spots come when Shelley does a suicide dive on Petey through Sabin’s legs! Sabin ups the crazy with an Asai Moonsault that lands his shins on the guardrail. Thank God for kick pads! That sets up the commercial break. When we come back, Petey and Shelley double-team Sabin. Total Nonstop Alex! Double suplex on Sabin, but the heels come up and knock heads. Whoops. That leads to a disagreement as Sabin levels them both with a dropkick. HERE COMES SABIN! It works out well for Sabin as Petey gets stuck in the corner and gets shoulder-butted a couple times. Eventually, Sabin catches Shelley with a drop toehold, which sends Shelley into Petey’s balls. Shelley stops the CRADLE SHOCK and delivers a Brainbuster for 1-2-NO! Petey catches Shelley with the Canadian Legsweep and tries the CANADIAN DESTROYER, but Shelley backdrops him into a running powerbomb by Sabin! Shelley immediately breaks up the count with a flipping neckbreaker. Final Cut by Shelley on Petey, but Sabin knocks Shelley loopy with an enziguri and delivers the CRADLE SHOCK for real for the 1-2-3. (5:28 shown) Another fine example of the X-Division. After the bell, Petey leaves Sabin laying with the CANADIAN DESTROYER. They just had to show that one off here. ***

Backstage, Tito Ortiz shows up to meet with Larry Zbyszko. What is HE doing here?!

  • Rhino vs. Jeff Hardy

Tenay hypes Monster’s Ball II at Bound for Glory where four guys stay in a dark room for 24 hours before the match without food and water and then come out fighting. Total beatdown by Rhino to start. Hardy fires back with a mule kick and the jumping kick down in the corner. Rhino hits Jeff with the AA Spinebuster, but misses a flying headbutt. Hardy legdrops the balls for two. Belly to belly suplex by Rhino sets up the GORE, but Jeff moves and Rhino eats the turnbuckle. TWIST OF FATE, but here comes Abyss for the DQ. (4:17) Just as it looks like a two-on-one beatdown is about to happen, the lights go off to signal Sabu. That’s when he and Hardy clean house and fight with Abyss and Rhino on the floor. *

CONTROVERSY IN CANADA: The America’s Most Wanted help Jeff Jarrett regain the NWA world title back in Ontario, which explains why Raven was so pissed off earlier.

Now the new Planet Jarrett heads to the ring for the REAL main event. Jarrett tells us that he has done everything he said he would. In TNA, Jarrett feels all of the power lies with the NWA world title. He thanks AMW for what they have done and then brings out Team Canada leader Coach Scott D’Amore. No one really says, but apparently D’Amore was able to get the title match signed since BCW is his promotion. He tells Jeff that since he held up his part of the deal, Jarrett owes him one favor at his beck and call. D’Amore slaps away Jeff’s handshake and gives him a big hug. 3 Live Kru come out to tell Jeff to shut up, so Jarrett dares them to make him shut up, which triggers a big brawl. Team Canada heads out to back up Planet Jarrett. Just as things look grand for Planet Jarrett and Team Canada, the Dudley Boyz debut in TNA under the Team 3D name. Brother Ray! Brother Devon! While Team Canada retreats to beat up 3LK, Team 3D take care of America’s Most Wanted with 3Ds! Crowd is dying to see them give Jarrett the same treatment, but he bails only to find Kevin Nash at the top of the ramp. Jarrett then falls back into the ring to take the What’s Up Drop from Team 3D. With Jarrett doubled over, Nash drops him with the JACKKNIFE. Even though Jarrett is done for tonight, Nash claims he’s got unfinished business with Jarrett and challenges him for a title match at Bound for Glory. Once that challenge has been laid, Team 3D lay out another one for America’s Most Wanted next week! Don West has apparently always wanted to see it. Me personally? Outside of Goldberg v. Austin, I was never a big dream match guy.

NEXT WEEK: Feature main event is America’s Most Wanted vs. Team 3D! In other action, you’ll see 3Live Kru v. Team Canada.
