Your hosts are Kevin Kelly and Jim Ross.

  • WWF Intercontinental Title Tournament Quarterfinals: Psycho Sid vs. Hunter Hearst Helmsley

Do you feel it? The man who rules the world is here. Kevin Kelly reminds us that Helmsley has been really distracted lately because Mr. Perfect keeps on stealing his lady friends! Tonight, Hunter has with him a blonde chick named Kimberly. Helmsley catches Sid with a swinging neckbreaker and a few knee drops, but otherwise this is all Sid. Chokeslam and the POWERBOMB advances Sid in the tourney. (3:40) After the bell, Mr. Perfect comes out and leaves with Kimberly. Helmsley is upset about it, but more upset about how his neck feels right now. ¾*

We hear from Ahmed Johnson and his physician. Ahmed feels because he came so close to dying and didn’t means there is BIG plans for him in the future. If all goes well, Ahmed could be back in the ring by the end of the year.

  • WWF Intercontinental Title Tournament Quarterfinals: Steve Austin vs. Marc Mero (w/Sable)

“Loose Cannon” Brian Pillman joins us for special commentary. He’s got some news about Bret Hart’s return. Pillman says that all the answers concerning Bret Hart will be heard at the next In Your House PPV on September 22. He also says there has been a reconciliation between Bret and Owen. Ross has big news to announce tonight as well. Hmm. All this talking from Pillman and Ross take over the feeling-out process. Commercials! When we come back, Austin shuts down a comeback by Mero with a stun gun. He misses an elbow drop off the second rope to fire up Mero. Ten count corner punches and a flying double ax handle gets two. Knee Lift scores another two count. Mero gets dumped out and on his way back in, Austin pulls the referee into a shoulder butt for the DQ. (6:37 shown) Mero advances to face Owen Hart in the semifinals next week. This was okay. I didn’t feel like Austin was in so much trouble that he needed to get himself disqualified just yet. After the bell, Austin drops Mero with the STONE COLD STUNNER. A brawl erupts all the same until refs and agents head down to break it up. **¼

The newly signed Mark Henry meets Jerry Lawler in the ring for an interview. If this were 1994, it would be the “King’s Court”. Lawler makes Jake Roberts jokes and asks Henry if he’s crazy for trying to mess with Vader. Henry says he’s not crazy. There’s just some people in the WWF he doesn’t like. Okay then, Lawler challenges Henry to a match. Henry seems MORE than willing to oblige him in a FIGHT, but Lawler wants a WRESTLING match. With that said, Henry turns his offer down since he knows he’s not ready to wrestle, but knows that there will be a day when he and Lawler will meet. Lawler ends up goading him into a match after all by calling him a coward. Henry promises one gold medal butt-kicking. OHH snap.

  • Mankind (w/Paul Bearer) vs. Alex Porteau

Ross finally makes his big announcement: Razor Ramon and Diesel will be returning soon to the WWF. Ross also mentions that Kurt Angle has been in talks with the WWF as of late. Mankind wins with the MANDIBLE CLAW at 2:07.

Over at the CNE “Ex”Perience in Toronto this past weekend, Psycho Sid lost a game of tug of war to an elephant. Only in Canada! When he formed a team though of Special Olympians, they were able to be victorious over the elephant. Later that day at the CNE Exhibition Stadium where a WWF live event was held, Roddy Piper showed up!

Before we could get to the main event, Bob Backlund is in the ring. While he has a lot of abomination for this man, he introduces the returning Iron Sheik as the trainer of Backlund’s new associate who will be debuting soon. Tons of delusion going on in the ring right now. WWF gives Sheik some wrap it up music, but he keeps going into the commercial break.

  • WWF Champion Shawn Michaels (w/Jose Lothario) vs. Goldust (w/Marlena)

On the split-screen, Undertaker appears promising that Goldust will rest in peace. In other important news, Shawn’s spread in Playgirl magazine gets plugged. Ross reminds us that Playgirl magazine is for ADULTS ONLY. Thanks, JR. Shawn is all over Goldust to start, but then Goldust drops down and uppercuts Shawn to take control. Goldust then hotshots Michaels and whips him in the corner for the Harley Race bump to the floor. He drops Shawn on the guardrail and then holds him while Marlena blows cigar smoke in his face. You really want to hurt Shawn? PUT THE CIGAR OUT ON HIS CHEST. Time for a commercial. When we return, Goldust wears down Shawn with a chinlock. Michaels fights up into a double-KO. He hits the Flying Forearm, but Goldust rolls through on a flying bodypress for 1-2-NO! More commercials. When we come back, Shawn hits the Flying Elbow. Marlena interrupts him while he’s tuning up the band, thus allowing Goldust to attack him from behind. Goldust looks for the Curtain Call, but Shawn lands on his feet and delivers the Moonsault Press (same move that finally beat Vader at SummerSlam) for the win. (7:40 shown) Fun match, but not nearly enough nearfalls to make you think Shawn was in any jeopardy. Mankind and Paul Bearer head down to join Goldust for a beatdown on the WWF champ. Shawn wisely ducks out and heads up the aisle before anything bad can happen. **½

NEXT WEEK: The Undertaker battles Salvatore Sincere! Plus, we will find out who the final IC title tournament quarterfinalist will be as Faarooq takes on Savio Vega.
