The current Lucha Underground champs are as follows:
Lucha Underground Champion: Matanza (3/23/16)
Lucha Underground Gift of the Gods Champion: Vacant (3/16/16)
Lucha Underground Trios Champions: Son of Havoc, Ivelisse & Angelico (3/16/16)

In case you missed last week, here are some highlights:

NOW ONTO THIS WEEK:

As we often do, we start in Dario Cueto’s office. He has Aerostar, Drago, and Fenix there. Dario needs one more team in his trios tournament to face the Disciples of Death, but doesn’t want these three to team up like they did last year and lose. He puts Fenix on a team with PJ Black and Jack Evans while Aerostar and Drago will compete over the second Aztec medallion.

HIPSTER BAND OF THE WEEK: El Conjunto Nueva Ola for the third week in a row.

Your hosts are Matt Striker and Vampiro.

  • Gift of the Gods Aztec Medallion Match #2: Aerostar vs. Drago

Striker calls out Drago for suffering a sophomore slump. Since they know each other so well, they try for quick pins right off the bat. Striker mentions Aerostar and Drago’s best of five series from last year to remind us of their familiarity. When they come to a stalemate, they start running the ropes. Aerostar does a handspring off the ropes and Drago sees it coming as he nails him with an enziguri. Corkscrew press by Aerostar, but Drago lucha armdrags him away. Aerostar avoids a corner charge sending Drago to the floor. He tries to do a triple-spring dive on him, but crashes and burns slipping on the ropes. OUCH. Drago makes things worse by throwing him into the barricade. Back inside, Aerostar recovers and headscissors Drago to the floor for a somersault plancha. Drago then dumps out Aerostar so he can show off his twisting dive. Back inside, Drago moves away from a slingshot splash and then rope hung DDTs Aerostar’s head through the mat for two. Next thing you know, Aerostar is right back in this and running dropkicks Drago down in the corner. With Drago sitting up on the top buckle, Aerostar walks across the second rope for a headscissors only to be pushed back on the mat for a missile dropkick by Drago. Dominator connects as Drago gets another two. A couple more misses by these guys to show how well they know each other. Aerostar 619s Drago as he comes off the ropes and then delivers this AWESOME slingshot codebreaker. That sets up the SPRINGBOARD SPLASH for the win. (6:36) This had a weird flow to it, but I loved the finish and sometimes that’s what sticks in your mind the most. **½

In some odd homemade gym, Taya remarks how good Johnny Mundo looks. He says he’s not *a* man, he’s *THE* man. Where else have we heard this lately? Anyways, Taya is here to give him some really bad news. Not only does she not have an Aztec medallion with her, but now Mundo has to wrestle to get one. His opponent in next week’s match? CAGE. And this won’t just be a standard match, it’s also a CAGE match. That’s right – CAGE in a CAGE. If Taya is his agent, he really needs a new agent.

  • First Round Trios Tournament Match: Fenix, Jack Evans and PJ Black vs. The Disciples of Death (w/Catrina)

And Battlebowl continues. PJ Black and Gray Skull start us off here. PJ controls with armbars and goes to tag Evans, but he doesn’t feel the need to come inside the ring. He gives PJ the thumbs up and tells him how good he’s doing. Fenix tags in and corkscrew dives on the Purple One. Evans finally tags in and builds himself up, but then gets tripped and pulled into the ringpost. The DOD keep PJ Black on their side of town for a short heat segment. Once PJ escapes, he hot tags Fenix who makes the Purple One look like a jabroni. A missile dropkick sets up a corner dropkick. Eventually, Fenix gets caught with a superkick and then DDT’d into a small package by the Purple One for two. Golden Face tags in continuing to own Fenix. Golden Face has lured Fenix here, he’s going to kill everybody, and then dig up Fenix’s dead wife and hump her real good. MUAHAHAHAHAHA. Evans finally gets the tag to show us how it’s done. FLIPS EVERYWHERE. When he gets kicked back into his own corner while running his mouth, Fenix tags back in for more ownage. Once Golden Face is up in the tecnicos corner, Fenix blind tags PJ Black as he’s giving Golden Face a super headscissors. SPRINGBOARD 450 SPLASH to Golden Face gets two. Now Gray Skull and Purple One are sent out to the floor so PJ Black and Jack Evans can fly. That leaves Fenix all alone to deliver the DOUBLE JUMP 450 SPLASH on Golden Face for the win. (9:10) The Disciples of Death have failed again. Hard to take them as a serious threat this season though since they are this year’s JTTS trios team. Catrina is not happy and leaves her DOD boys behind. **½

Meanwhile in Dario Cueto’s office, he meets with the Unlikely Trio. Dario drops a bomb letting them know they are in the trios tournament even though they are the trios champs. Instead of the point of the tournament being to find a number one contender to the trios titles, now Cueto says the winner of the tournament will be the trios champions. To make things fair, they get a bye straight to the finals. Next week, they face the other three teams in an elimination match where the winner will be the trios champions. The Unlikely Trio fight over the name of the team and Dario is like, OHHH BOY.

Elsewhere, Catrina gives the Disciples of Death a tongue lashing for losing to Fenix of all people – and not the fun kind. She wants one good reason why she shouldn’t destroy all of them right now. Well, the Purple One shows her his balls by PULLING GRAY SKULL’S BLACK HEART OUT OF HIS CHEST. The Purple One does the same to Golden Face and becomes more powerful than ever. Alright then.

  • Lucha Underground Championship: Matanza (c) (w/Dario Cueto) vs. Mil Muertes (w/Catrina)

They begin nose to nose and start punching each other. Next thing you know, Muertes is CLUBBERIN Matanza down to the mat. Matanza catches Mil with a clothesline, but gets drilled with a powerslam as Muertes mounts him for more punches. Over to the corner, Muertes continues his offensive onslaught with rapid fire clotheslines. The power and speed of Muertes is finally causing Matanza some trouble. He runs into a bunch of boots in the corner though and gets taken over with several gutwrench suplexes, but flips away from the third one back into the ropes. Matanza charges and gets dumped on the floor for a tope suicida. More mounted punches for Matanza as Cueto tries to pound him on the back. Uhh, bad idea jeans. Muertes grabs Cueto and lifts him up by his throat until his brother Matanza saves the day. As they fight at the announce table, Catrina whacks Matanza with the Aztec stone. No effect. She gets goozled as well until Muertes bends a chair across Matanza’s back. They fight at the ringpost. Muertes grabs what appears to be a water crock as they take turns beating each other with it making their way up the stairs. More brawling over to the roof of Dario Cueto’s office. Muertes can’t quite throw Matanza off the roof and settles for the FLATLINER THROUGH THE ROOF INSTEAD. (7:13) Ring the bell – neither man is getting up from that. This was a fun brawl from the opening bell. Loved it. Dario Cueto stands on what’s left of his office roof and yells “WAR” in Spanish at Catrina down on the floor. It’s ON. ***¼

Before we go, we check in at the Sheriff’s Department where the lady captain is seen looking over Dario Cueto’s case on her board. One poster says that Bael is deceased. Under missing persons, she has posters for Hernandez, Alberto El Patron, Blue Demon Jr., Big Ryck, and someone else I can’t see. HA! She pulls a district map down to hide the board when a councilman comes in her office. You may know him best as the man LORENZO LAMAS. He’s heard she’s been sniffing around his jurisdiction in Boyle Heights. His boss wants her to drop the case against Dario Cueto. No, not the mayor. Someone much more powerful. He lets her know that he’s just giving her a little “friendly advice” from an old friend. INTERESTING~!

Until next time, so long for now.
