TEN YEARS AFTER: ECW on Sci-Fi (06.12.07)

Earlier today at WWE Headquarters in Stamford CT, the WWE flag flew at half mast in mourning for the chairman Vince McMahon who was pronounced dead after his limousine exploded at the conclusion of RAW last night. They take us back to show us what went down in full. The show tonight will be dedicated to the memory of Vince McMahon.

LET THE BODIES HIT THE FLOOR! Your hosts are Joey Styles and Tazz. (VIDEO INCLUDED BELOW~!)

Time for a ten-bell salute for Mr. McMahon. Of course the crowd boos because they know it’s all a work and it’s nonsense. Both Styles and Tazz mention how disrespectful their reaction is, but the whole thing deserves a loud and boisterous boo.

  • Extreme Rules: Tommy Dreamer vs. Balls Mahoney

Styles and Tazz bring up how we can thank Mr. McMahon for bringing back together the ECW originals. They trade some jabs and head to the floor where Dreamer finds some trash cans. He whacks Balls over the head with a kitchen sink, but then Balls reverses a whip into the steps. Back inside, we get some trash can violence. A chair gets involved and Dreamer takes a drop toehold onto the chair. Balls gets crotched up top into a tree of woe as Dreamer baseball slides a trash can into his face. Here comes a table. Balls hits Dreamer with a trash can and goes to splash him through the table, but Dreamer moves. There’s the DREAMER DDT on a chair for the win. (6:11) ¾*

  • The Boogeyman vs. Matt Striker

Kudos to Striker selling some wrist work for this creep. Striker makes Boogeyman chase him and then jumps him with clubbing forearms. Boogey NO-SELLS and hits a splash. The BOOGEYBOMB ends Striker. (2:31) Afterwards, Striker eats a bunch of worms. ½*

They air a recap of the firemen putting out the fire from Mr. McMahon’s limo. Apparently, it took ten minutes to put out the fire. Tazz says his car was parked 300 feet away and it had soot all over it. No little chunks of McMahon, though.

  • Chris Benoit & CM Punk vs. Elijah Burke & Marcus Cor Von

Punk gets caught in the wrong corner to start. Burke knees him in the face. Benoit tags in and abuses Burke. Cor Von tags in and trades blows with Benoit before Punk comes in with a Springboard Clothesline. Burke tries to jump Punk from behind, but Benoit knocks him down hard with a back elbow. Great bump from Burke! After a commercial break, we see Punk playing face-in-peril. Burke mounts him and hits forearms to rock Punk’s head. Cor Von catapults him into the corner, but Punk reverses his T-Bone to a small package for two. Burke tags in, but Cor Von continues to dish out punishment past the five-count and gets his team DQ’ed. (8:52 shown) Lame finish! After the bell, Benoit gives Burke the Hat Trick of Germans, the SWANDIVE HEADBUTT, and taps him out to the SHARPSHOOTER. I mean, why not have that be the finish instead? **

Before we go, let’s see remind ourselves one more time of this thing that we’re supposed to be sad about, I think: Mr. McMahon blowing up in his limousine.

RIP MCMAHON. Not a very memorable memorial show though.

Until next time, so long for now.
