The current GCW champs are as follows on 8/2/80:
NWA World Heavyweight Champion: Harley Race (11/7/1979)
NWA Georgia Heavyweight Champion: Baron Von Raschke (6/8/1980)
NWA Georgia Tag Team Champions: Steve Keirn & Mr. Wrestling II (7/30/1980)
NWA Georgia Jr. Heavyweight Champion: Kevin Sullivan (6/8/1980)
NWA National Television Champion: Vacant (6/28/1980)

We start the clip with Kevin Sullivan and Stan Hansen talking with Gordon Solie. Hansen says he can’t trust anybody around here and tells the good guys that he’s going to start looking out for himself. When Hansen mentions Ole and Gene Anderson, they come over and bully him into the ring. As Kevin Sullivan goes to help Stan, the Great Mephisto shows up and grabs Sullivan as they begin brawling. Mark Lewin runs over and grabs Sullivan from behind and slaps on the SINGAPORE SLEEPERHOLD. Some jabronis try and help out. Ole Anderson goes to help Mephisto and Lewin while Hansen beats up Gene. He and Freddie Miller explain that Kevin Sullivan won the round-robin tournament last Sunday night in the Omni to become the first Georgia Jr. Heavyweight champion while Ole and Lars Anderson defeated Ivan Koloff and Alexis Smirnoff to become the Georgia tag team champions to which Miller comments was a great moment for America. As Solie mentions the new Georgia heavyweight champion Baron Von Raschke, he shows up and explains that Idol is just a weakling who couldn’t hang. We are entering new territory here at PDRwrestling because I am absolutely in no way an expert on the Detroit NWA territory ran by Ed “The Original Sheik” Farhat. There are at least a dozen different episodes from the 1970s circulating around the internet and I thought I would give them a look. I do enjoy watching unfamiliar wrestling from time to time. However, even if you don’t know the angles or feuds, this is still an NWA territory and you should see some familiar faces of the era. I don’t even know the name of the TV studio they are wrestling in because there is so little amount of information available on this company! Someone help me. Let’s hope this will be an interesting read if nothing else.
