WWE: nWo – The Revolution DVD Review (Disc One)

Released: November 6, 2012

My buddy Slackamania (just a nickname, he’s not insane) and I will be double-teaming this review. He’s a die-hard wrestling fan from way back in the day just like me, so I hope you enjoy his thoughts on the program, while I will be handling the special features – like a boss. Is that still cool to say? Was it ever cool to say? I don’t know, but hopefully you’ll keep reading. Read the rest of this entry

The Very Best of WCW Monday Nitro (Disc One)

The Very Best of WCW Monday Nitro
Three-Disc Set
Released: June 7, 2011
DISC ONE

Amazing how the intro really does sum up the entire show.

Your host is Diamond Dallas Page. Who better to host this set that was there for the entire run of Nitro, that isn’t currently a part of TNA, and seems to still be in the good graces of WWE.

He mentions how WCW’s talent pool was superior to the WWE roster of the early 90s, but they lacked the innovation necessary to really compete. That is until Eric Bischoff became the leader of WCW. Hence, the invention of Monday Nitro. Read the rest of this entry

Already this is a crazy show. The new World order come into the arena hanging on the back of dump trucks along with this huge obnoxious police and fire truck escort. It’s just WAY over the top, but that’s the point.

Such a great intro video. I love it. We-we-we are in control. The stage is pretty much completely dark and evil-looking. The whole set reminds me of either Fight Club or the abandoned warehouse where Zoolander and Hansel had their walk-off. All we need now is David Bowie.

Your hosts are Eric Bischoff and Ted DiBiase. Read the rest of this entry

When we last left you in 1996, the Giant asked Hollywood Hogan for a WCW world title shot after winning World War 3 back in November. At Starrcade, the Giant failed to chokeslam Hogan’s enemy Roddy Piper. Because of this mistake, Hogan blamed his loss on the Giant. This enraged the Giant and on the next night at Monday Nitro, the Giant didn’t join in on the massive Roddy Piper beatdown. As Piper left speaking gibberish on a stretcher, the Giant grabbed Hogan by the throat and yelled for the nWo to clear out of the ring. Well they do, but once Hogan agrees to a title match and Giant lets him go, Hogan orders his troops to all attack the Giant at once. They beat him down and strip him of his nWo t-shirt and bash him with the world title belt until the Giant is left unconscious. Oh yeah, and still nobody is sure about where Sting’s alliance is at just yet. I know you could have just read the 1996 recaps, but it helps me (and you!) recall exactly where we are at without doing that.
