WWF: Monday Night Raw (02.06.95)
Monday Night Raw
February 6, 1995
Manatee Civic Center
The current WWF champs were as follows:
World Champion: Diesel (11/26/1994)
Intercontinental Champion: Jeff Jarrett (1/22/1995)
World Tag Team Champions: The Smoking Gunns (1/23/1995)
Women’s Champion: Bull Nakano (11/20/1994)
Your hosts are Vince McMahon and Shawn Michaels. Tonight, Diesel will have a special interview. Oh, but then Shawn says that whatever Diesel has to say will be S-M-ALL compared to the surprise that he has in store for the WWF champion.
- Lex Luger & Men on a Mission (w/Oscar) vs. Tatanka, IRS, and King Kong Bundy
Ted DiBiase is “inconspicuous by his absence” here. The big boys Mabel and Bundy start us off. Enziguri Kick from Mabel gets two. Tag to Mo, he has VERY little luck whatsoever against the MDC. Commercials! Soon as we come back, Mo reaches over to tag Mabel. He puts Tatanka down and tags Luger just to be a DICK. Tatanka tags IRS as soon as Luger flexes at him. Deadly stuff! Luger gets hold of IRS and tags in Mo again. Oh boy. Tatanka buries a knee into the back of Mo to trigger the face-in-peril segment of this six-man. Chicanery and shenanigans ensue for a little while. DiBiase finally shows up to distract the ref every now and then. Very mild and uninteresting stuff here. IRS tries to stop a sunset flip from Mo by grabbing onto the ropes, but he’s in the wrong corner and Mabel helps IRS fall backwards for two. Tag to Bundy, he misses the AVALANCHE and kicks Mo into the HOT TAG TO LUGER! House of fire allows him to slam Bundy. Tatanka clotheslines him from behind, but Mabel comes in and choke lifts him into the corner. While the ref is getting Mabel out of the ring, Tatanka sneaks in a DDT on Luger as Bundy covers for the 1-2-3. (11:29 shown) Even Shawn thought this was a boring match. Vince hypes Luger v. Tatanka for this weekend’s episode of Action Zone. Don’t miss it! *½
Promo for Man Mountain Rock is shown. He gives his opinions on a few of the top wrestlers.
After the break, LT’s representative Buddy Cupo has a prepared statement regarding Bam Bam Bigelow’s challenge to LT issued last week. He apologizes for what happened to the WWF, but does NOT apologize to Bigelow. Instead of getting in the ring with Bigelow, LT will seek legal remedy if he continues to issue these challenges. What a wuss!
- Man Mountain Rock vs. Charlie Hunter
This is the TV debut of Man Mountain Rock formerly known as Maxx Payne over in the Dubya See Dubya. Instead of doing the grunge gimmick, Man Mountain Rock dresses like he tried out for the Grateful Dead and failed, so he became a wrestler. The man is just covered in tie-dye. They do however mention his legit wrestling background, which is good. GOURDBUSTER gets the win at 2:47.
Let Us Take You Back: Action Zone, 2/5/95. Diesel beat Owen Hart with a Jackknife and then Shawn Michaels came out to stare at him from the ramp.
It’s Time for that Special Interview with Diesel conducted by Vince McMahon. They discuss Diesel’s bad knees and how the Hart brothers have both made that the nucleus of their game plan to beat Diesel. Vince mentions the grind of being the WWF champion with all the media appearances plus the training and the matches and keeping your marriage together. Will Jeff Jarrett dethrone Diesel in two weeks LIVE on Monday Night Raw? Diesel says he’s come too far to let somebody like Double J knock him off his cloud. Once we go back to the arena, Shawn tells us that he will in fact reveal to us his new bodyguard on February 20.
- Mantaur (w/Jim Cornette) vs. Leroy Howard
Just a few more months, Cornette. It’ll all be over soon. After some slams and a couple AVALANCHES, Mantaur finishes off Howard with a Belly to Belly Suplex at 3:49.
- Razor Ramon vs. Frankie Lancaster
Two weeks outside of losing the IC title to Jeff Jarrett, Shawn says he wouldn’t want to be Frankie Lancaster tonight because Razor Ramon is not exactly all that happy of a guy right now. You couldn’t tell that from the huge grin on his face. HBK gets in a quick TekWar plug. Meanwhile, Razor delivers the Fallaway Slam, the ab stretch, the Back Superplex, and the RAZOR’S EDGE for the win at 3:48.
- Henry O. Godwinn vs. Bill Weaver
Early in the Godwinn character, he’s an ANGRY hog farmer. SLOP DROP and the pin comes closer to the camera at 2:24.
Next week: DOG SHOW!
In two weeks: WWF champion Diesel faces Jeff Jarrett with the Roadie by his side, Bam Bam Bigelow returns to action ending his 30-day suspension, and Shawn Michaels introduces his new bodyguard! I can’t believe it. All in one hour’s time! DON’T MISS IT!
Oh before we go, Shawn Michaels says he can no longer do color commentary because he’s WAY too hot a commodity and he needs to take care of business. SEE YA!
Vince closes with quite the ironic question for HBK: “Who do you think you are?!”
