WWF: Monday Night Raw (05.01.95)

Monday Night Raw
May 1, 1995
Omaha, NE
Civic Auditorium

The current WWF champs were as follows:
World Champion: Diesel (11/26/1994)
Intercontinental Champion: Title is held up (4/30/1995)
World Tag Team Champions: Owen Hart & Yokozuna (4/2/1995)
Women’s Champion: Alundra Blayze (4/3/1995)

Let Us Take You Back To Last Week: After Bam Bam Bigelow lost his WWF title match with Diesel, Ted DiBiase fired Bigelow from his Million Dollar Corporation, resulting in Bigelow taking a powerbomb from Psycho Sid. Just when things looked really bad, Diesel came back out and saved the day for Bam Bam Bigelow.

Your hosts are Vince McMahon and Jerry Lawler.

  • The Allied Powers vs. Ron Hagan & George Anderson

It’s announced that the 1-2-3 Kid has injured his neck and will not be at In Your House. Lawler does this odd thing where he kayfabe tells you what Hagan and Anderson’s blue-collar day jobs are. This is a recurring theme throughout the program for Lawler and the jobbers thanks to Vince. Anderson receives a bunch of armdrags from Luger, while Hagan a bunch of suplexes from Bulldog. RUNNING POWERSLAM to Anderson finishes him off at 2:41.

Yesterday on the Action Zone, IC Champ Jeff Jarrett battled Bob Holly. After Jarrett got the pin on Holly with his feet on the ropes, the match was restarted. It was then that Holly pinned Jarrett even though Jarrett got his foot on the bottom rope at the three-count, which means the IC title has been held up. The Jarrett-Holly rematch to settle this *once and for all* takes place this weekend.

  • Bob Holly vs. Butler Stevens

Looks like Stevens sleeveless t-shirt is made out of a trash bag. Clotheslines and dropkicks in this one. Holly hits a messy Flying Bodypress for the win at 2:53. Not a very strong performance leading into his IC title match.

The In Your House Control Center with Todd Pettingell:
WWF Champion Diesel vs. Psycho Sid
Jeff Jarrett and the Roadie vs. Razor Ramon
Bret Hart vs. Hakushi
Plus, they are giving away a house in Orlando!

  • Mantaur (w/Jim Cornette) vs. Sonny Rogers

Omaha is booing this whole thing. Cornette is just trying to make the best of it. Mantaur presses Rogers and then catches him for a forward powerslam at 2:25.

‘NYPD Blue’ meets Man Mountain Rock. Is he a wrestler imitating a rock star, or a rock star imitating a wrestler? YOU DECIDE.

  • Razor Ramon vs. Psycho Sid (w/Ted DiBiase)

No match. Sid steps through the piping hot Razor Ramon sparklers and runs down Razor before giving him not one but two POWERBOMBS before Diesel comes out and saves the day. First HBK, then Bigelow, and now Razor!

  • Adam Bomb vs. Dave Sigfrid

Hammerlocks and headlocks from the A-Bomb. Sigfrid tries a crossbody out of the corner, but Bomb rolls through for two. Bomb delivers some clotheslines, but ends the match with a FLYING clothesline at 3:40. He takes on Mabel in the first KOTR qualifier at In Your House. I wonder if eBay has any of those Adam Bomb NERF football-looking things.

Raymond Rougeau checks on Razor Ramon in the back, who is covered with agents, refs, and Diesel. No word on his condition or anything.

We get a Hunter Hearst Helmsley video. He’s less Motorhead, more Masterpiece Theatre at this point.

  • Men on a Mission vs. Kevin Krueger & Bill Duke

Just a jobber, Krueger tries to make an actual effort to take out Mabel and all Vince does is belittle his efforts, which is quite humorous. DOUBLE DROPKICK to Mabel, but he swats it away. Mo picks up Duke after a DDT to do more damage. Mabel avalanches Duke and puts him away with a Belly to Belly Suplex at 4:37.

Here comes Bret Hart to respond to Lawler’s claims that Bret is ducking him since he challenged Bret before Hakushi at In Your House. Bret calls Lawler a liar, but furthermore announces that he will wrestle not just Hakushi, but also agrees to wrestle Jerry Lawler. With Lawler laughing like a hyena, it seems Bret has fallen right into the King’s evil plans. What’s THAT all about?

NEXT WEEK: Whether or not he’s the IC Champion after Sunday’s Action Zone, Jeff Jarrett battles Doink the Clown! We will also see Bart Gunn take on Owen Hart!
