Monday Night Raw
July 3, 1995
Danville, PA
The current WWF champs were as follows:
World Champion: Diesel (11/26/1994)
Intercontinental Champion: Jeff Jarrett (5/21/1995)
World Tag Team Champions: Owen Hart & Yokozuna (4/2/1995)
Women’s Champion: Alundra Blayze (4/3/1995)
Your hosts are Vince McMahon and Jerry Lawler. The King is guzzling Scope. Either he’s still facing the effects of the “Kiss My Foot” match, or this is going to be a terrible night of wrestling.
- The 1-2-3 Kid vs. Mike Bell
This is the Kid’s return to action after recovering as best he can from some concussions. He looks real good here as he gets in all his kicks. Oklahoma roll gets the win at 3:03.
Jeff Jarrett’s “With My Baby Tonight” video airs.
- Bob Holly vs. The Brooklyn Brawler
The Best Dropkick in the Business won’t pin Brawler, but the Flying Body Press will at 2:54.
Let Us Take You Back to this past weekend on Superstars: Adam Bomb faced Henry O. Godwinn. They fought to a double countout, which resulted in Adam Bomb getting the bucket of slop poured on him. Lawler is afraid of hurling again like he did at the KOTR. This is one of the few times I’ve heard Vince have a genuine human laugh. It’s usually that promoter’s fake laugh.
- Henry O. Godwinn vs. Barry Horowitz
Horowitz gets a glimmer of a chance of a shot at beating Godwinn before he takes the SLOP DROP at 2:58.
- Bam Bam Bigelow vs. Psycho Sid (w/Ted DiBiase)
Godwinn is still lurking around ringside during Sid’s entrance. DiBiase gives Godwinn the look, which means he needs to pick a fight with Bigelow during *his* entrance. Bammer isn’t exactly sure what to think of that. Some strong tie-ups and headlocks to start. They trade shoulderblocks, but then Sid misses a corner charge and eats a DDT. DiBiase causes a distraction, allowing Sid to take back control. Sid puts the boots to Bigelow to take us into commercial. When we come back, Bigelow fights out of a camel clutch with an electric chair drop! He runs into a boot in the corner though and takes a Chokeslam! Well, sort of. Sid wants a Powerbomb, but Bigelow backdrops out and heads up top for the Flying Headbutt. While DiBiase distracts the ref, Godwinn appears and shoves Bigelow down to the mat! Sid crawls on top of Bigelow for the win. (5:41 shown) Bigelow did the best he could to get something out of Sid to put him over leading into In Your House. After the bell, Sid sticks Bigelow with a POWERBOMB as DiBiase and Godwinn share a laugh. *½
- Waylon Mercy vs. Jeff Hardy
This is the Raw debut for Waylon Mercy. Vince remarks how a respectful guy he appears to be before and after his matches. I like what I hear of his theme music. Waylon doesn’t let up for a second here. Vince announces that Henry Godwinn will be replacing King Kong Bundy in the tag match with Tatanka against the Allied Powers next week. Brainbuster and the SLEEPER HOLD puts away Jeff at 3:06.
Jerry Lawler takes us to the waiting room of his dentist Isaac Yankem, DDS. There’s some kid sitting there with his mom that Lawler yammers at about his “Kiss My Foot” match with Bret Hart. He gets a little too close to the kid who tells Jerry that his breath stinks. Then he talks about Isaac Yankem and how he used to be this great wrestler. Some patient comes out of Yankem’s office holding his mouth in extreme pain. Out comes Isaac Yankem with his baked bean teeth smiling and asking for the next patient.
Before we go, we get some highlights of Sid vs. Bigelow from earlier in the show.
NEXT WEEK: The Allied Powers battle Tatanka and Henry Godwinn! Plus, Savio Vega will be in action. Don’t forget about the Roadie either! He’ll beat up some jobber, I assure you.
