We get the footage of the ending of the match where they refused to tag in and Kevin clearly pins Warrior and he turns face by attacking Sawyer, Bourne, and Percy Pringle. Kinda depressing to think that Warrior, Bourne, and Pringle all just recently passed within a year of each other. He says he’s standing alone and they’re gonna see what happens when a Dingo gets real mad AHHHHHHHHHH

Craig DeGeorge Interviews the New Intercontinental Champion

The NEW Intercontinental Champion The Ultimate Warrior comes out to talk to Craig DeGeorge. HONKY TONK MAN YOU WANT IT BACK YOU COME AND GET IT. Jimmy Hart comes out barking in his megaphone while Honky Tonk Man comes out and breaks the guitar repeatedly over Ultimate Warriors head. An interesting backstory is in the days before the Internet this segment was taped BEFORE SummerSlam 88 but aired AFTER SummerSlam 88. Warrior won the championship in a dark match to open the TV taping and did this segment with the belt. At the end of the TV taping it was announced Jack Tunney had reversed the decision and Honky Tonk Man was still the IC Champion. It had to make many fans at the TV taping wonder if wrestling was predetermined after seeing this segment.

The Brother Love Show with Queen Sherri

Brother Love introduces Sherri. Sherri says Warrior is not a champion but a common peasant coward. We see footage of Warrior peeking behind the curtain. Sherri has a royal contract for a Championship match between Ultimate Warrior and Randy Savage. She’s went through Jack Tunney and phone calls to obtain the Warriors signature but hasn’t seen it. She believes he’s illiterate. Brother Love calls him The Ultimate Chicken and paints his face like a girl and has yellow in his paint and Sherri says yeah big yellow streak down his back. This prompts Warrior out Warrior says he fears no Macho Man. He needs no contract to accept any challenge. He rips up the royal contract and says its legal and useless and calls out Savage. Warrior says he sees him, behind Sherri’s skirt. Sherri then SLAPS the Warrior and berates him while he yells. Warrior says Macho Man is not so Macho which prompts Sherri to slap him again with Warrior yelling more. Brother Love vows Warrior won’t hit a woman. Warrior says Macho Man might love somebody else which results in a THIRD slap by Sherri. Warrior then destroys Brother Loves lectern and the Royal sedan and leaves.

Sister Love

Brother Love brings out Warrior and says he’s afraid to face The Macho Man and does he remember what happened the last time what happened when he was on this show (Flashback to previous segment we reviewed) Warrior says he would never strike a woman even one as evil and nasty as Queen Sherri. Warrior says Macho Man hides behind Sherri’s skirt. Warrior has a gift for Brother Love, a wig. Warrior demands Brother Love to put it on. as well as a dress. Warrior says look at you and tells him to get down on his knees and asks can he feel the love? He doesn’t walk as Brother Love no more but Sister Love and the Macho King has one more place to hide.

At the end of that road destroyed only one career. He will no longer rule but he will and he makes that promise to the Warriors behind his back that at WrestleMania VII that will be the final step he takes in his career. Gene brings up The Undertaker and Paul Bearer want to sprinkle the ashes of his career at WrestleMania. Warrior says get a double plot for WrestleMania, one for the Macho King and the other for themselves.

Mean Gene is standing by with some young Warrior fans in face paint and brings out their favorite in Warrior. We recap his return at WrestleMania VIII Warrior says there is no price heavy to pay for a great friend like Hulk Hogan. To become a great leader like Hulk Hogan you must have many friends like his Warriors. It means one person must pay a higher price. Warrior picks up a few and say he gets his power from these Warriors and will carry the banner of the World Wrestling Federation. Vince hypes up what a match Warrior vs Sid will be, but it never happened as Sid bailed from the WWF later that month.

The Papa Shango Curse

Warrior, wearing a WWF ring jacket and a different hairstyle comes out and talks to Mean Gene. Gene asks if Warrior is threatened by Papa Shango’s voodoo Warrior and he says it’s the Warriors that leave the entire world spellbound. Warrior balks at Mean Genes suggestion that Warrior controls his destiny that is Warriors are in control of such things and that they see the voodoo he possesses as a challenge that must be stopped. As Warrior finishes talking black ooze drips down his face and Warrior screams WARRRRRRRRRRRRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIOOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRSSS and looks at the black ooze on his hand as he leaves as Vince and Mr. Perfect speculate if Warrior has been cursed.

Only Desperate Men Act with Impatience

Warrior opens the show to talk to Mean Gene. Warrior says him and Macho Man must be patient for only desperate men act with impatience. Why have it in front of 10,000 Macho Maniacs and Warriors when we can have it at Wembley Stadium with 80,000 Macho Maniacs and Warriors and on TV screens across the world! This brings out Ric Flair who Mean Gene tries to shoo away thinking he wants a confrontation but Warrior invites him onto the podium. Flairs says he has 3 points. The first is he’ll be WWF Champion after SummerSlam, the second is he’ll be there at SummerSlam to make sure he has the first crack at the title against the winner, and last informs Warrior that all last week Savage was trying to make a deal with Mr. Perfect to be his manager SAY WHAT? SAY WHAT? Asks Warrior and Flair repeats it. Flair says that with Perfect in his corner that victory was a virtual lock but that it wasn’t a done deal and Warrior should open the vault in his big house in Phoenix and cash in those treasury bills and outbid for all those services. Warrior claims if Macho Man is that desperate to do everything and anything retain the WWF Championship that on the record RIGHT NOW He and the Warriors will do anything and pay any price to win the WWF Championship. The plan of this was for Warrior to be the one to sell out and win the title, but changed his mind about going heel so they did the angle where Flair and Perfect and played both sides.

The Ultimate Maniacs Are Born

Macho Man comes out to the podium still selling his leg injury. Mean Gene praises him for being a fighting champion, even though he’s no longer the champion, having lost it to Ric Flair a few weeks back. Savage warns Razor that he was given a kneepad by his friend Ultimate Warrior. (which doesn’t make sense considering their blood feud from Fall 90-WrestleMania VII and then that Summer) Savage brings out the Warrior who is holding the other kneepad. Warrior says Savage is a loser of nothing and they had a great match at SummerSlam. There will be a bond between them and the Warriors that shall be forever. Warrior says Macho Man has gained a friend that will stand beside him and behind him and so will his Warriors and Macho Maniacs. Macho gives Warrior some Ultimate Maniacs shades. Vince declares them the Ultimate Maniacs and that they’re unquestionably together.

The Ultimate Maniacs Are Out of Control

2 weeks away from the Survivor Series. Warrior does a promo with his style of words but mimicking Savages voice and promo style. The Ultimate Maniacs are out of control. Savage says the wall is made of solid steel bonded by Ultimate Maniacs all over the world and after the Survivor Series the Ultimate Maniacs will survive. Of course that never happened as right after this Warrior was fired from the WWF.

Running to Reappear

Nitro opens with the ring filling up with smoke and The Disciple unconscious. NWO Black & White comes out to thunderous boos and the ring fills up with smoke again and Disciple is gone when the smoke clears. Warrior: APPEAR SPEED RACER. The Warriors Batman like signal appears and its Warrior. Warrior has Disciple in the rafters. Hogan says lets finish what we started 8 years ago. Warrior says Hogan has been running to hide while I’ve been running to reappear. Hogan says Warrior is a coward but Warrior vows to take all the possessions he believes in life, and is taking his most committed follower The Disciple. Warrior tells Hogan to keep an eye on throughout the night. You and all you worship will feel the power of the WOYAH. Hogan makes threats as we go to commercial.

The Spirit of Ultimate Warrior Will Run Forever

“No WWE talent becomes a legend on their own. Every man’s heart one day beats its final beat. His lungs breathe a final breath. And if what that man did in his life makes the blood pulse through the body of others and makes them bleed deeper and something larger than life then his essence, his spirit, will be immortalized. By the story tellers, by the loyalty, by the memory of those who honor him and make the running the man did live forever. You, you, you, you, you, you are the legend markers of Ultimate Warrior. In the back I see many potential legends. Some of them with warrior spirits. And you will do the same for them. You will decide if they lived with the passion and intensity. So much so that you will tell your stories and you will make them legends, as well. Ultimate. You are the Ultimate Warrior fans. And the spirit of the Ultimate Warrior will run FOREEEEEEEEEVVVVVVVVVVERRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!! A heck of a final promo by Warrior that is a little eerie knowing he passed away less than 24 hours later. It was like he knew he was going and this was his way to thank the fans and say goodbye.

Final Thoughts: A proper Warrior tribute DVD. The documentary was a mix of all new material with the WWE Networks Ultimate Legend special spliced in. While they glossed over much of his wrestling feuds (no Rick Rude feud mention for example) that even the controversial Self Destruction DVD covered his wrestling career better, it was a great look at Warrior’s homecoming. It was cool to see what a wonderful husband and father he was. Dana seems like a sweetheart and the Warrior girls appear to be polite, well-mannered kids.

The matches aren’t anything to write home about but at least we got rarities and novelties like early Warrior in World Class, some tag team matches, some weekend TV main events (which were rare for Warrior) and his RAW debut and final WWF match.

The Warrior promos were a nice touch but hard to view in one sitting. While full of energy and intensity, Warrior wasn’t exactly entertaining in the way The Rock, Ric Flair, and Roddy Piper are when you are talking about delivering promos. This is a great companion piece to his Ultimate Collection set from last year. If you want to see a proper tribute and a look behind the curtain or to relive some of your childhood then this DVD is an easy thumbs up. If you’re into this just for the matches or promos then this isn’t for you. Thumbs in the middle for Ultimate Warrior: Always Believe.
