The Owen Hart YouTube Mixtape (Part 1)

Anyone who uses Dailymotion anymore knows they have constant commercial interruptions and I just don’t want to put you through that in order to enjoy this edition of the mixtape. I’m sticking with loyal YouTube that doesn’t succumb us to commercials for wrestling matches because no one can become a partner unless you own the material. Anyways!

So Owen Hart wins by a landslide. Not surprising, but no one even came close. Read the rest of this entry

SPECIAL NOTE: Because of the NBA playoffs airing on TNT, the next four weeks of Nitros will only be one hour.

Ric Flair can handle big men! He pinned that one big guy who now works for the WWF named Vader back in 1993! I seem to remember that another big man came along and beat him for the WCW world title a year earlier. Who was that guy again?

WCW Cruiserweight Champion: Syxx (2/23/1997)
WCW Women’s Champion: Akira Hokuto (12/29/1996)

Just to remind you of a little ECW history, this is the night after ECW’s first PPV. For whatever reason or measures WCW took, there are barely any ECW signs at all, ECW t-shirts, only one minor ECW chant, and no bWo shirts of any kind that I saw. Its very interesting and makes you wonder why considering the ECW faithful would normally show up in droves any time the WWF got near Philly back in those days. Except for Hat Guy, maybe they were all too hung over for another night of wrestling.

Let Us Take You Back To Last Week: The nWo settled their differences and DDP calls out Randy Savage only for Hollywood Hogan to try and handle the guy. Then Sting appears and stands between them pointing a baseball bat.

HOUR NUMBER ONE! Your hosts are Tony Schiavone and Larry Zbyszko. Read the rest of this entry

I did a recap for this show back in 2005, but MAN oh man was it bad. Very smarky. Very elitist. Very unlikeable. Hopefully in six years my writing has improved.

Your host is Diamond Dallas Page. Who better to host this set that was there for the entire run of Nitro, that isn’t currently a part of TNA, and seems to still be in the good graces of WWE.

He mentions how WCW’s talent pool was superior to the WWE roster of the early 90s, but they lacked the innovation necessary to really compete. That is until Eric Bischoff became the leader of WCW. Hence, the invention of Monday Nitro. Read the rest of this entry
