SPECIAL THURSDAY EDITION~! Wonder what was playing on Saturday night that was so important? It’s Spike TV for crying out loud.
Your hosts are Mike Tenay and Don West.
- America’s Most Wanted & Jeff Jarrett vs. The Naturals & Jeff Hardy
AMW brings with them a table reserved for Team 3D. Total all over the place brawl to start with the faces hot on the trail. Once it evolves into a regular match, the Naturals are owning everybody. Storm tries to even use the beer bottle and gets it taken away from him by Douglas. Hardy hits the SWANTON BOMB on Storm, but Harris yanks him out to prevent the pinfall. The Naturals look for the NATURAL DISASTER on Storm, but Jarrett wonders in and tries to low blow Douglas. He *catches* the low blow and the NATURAL DISASTER is coming for Jarrett, but Storm superkicks Douglas in the face to break it up. Jarrett then shoves Stevens into the handcuffs courtesy of Harris. That’s enough for Jarrett to nail the STROKE for the win. (4:00) Short, wild stuff. AMW tries to put Stevens through the table with the Death Sentence, but instead gives Douglas a 3D through the table when he tries to save his partner. Interestingly enough, this is the last we will see of Jeff Hardy in TNA until he shows back up for the big first-ever *live* iMPACT! on Monday night on January 4, 2010. *½
Another Rhino hype video. When Jarrett is lying in his piss, blood, and poop and begs him to stop at Turning Point, Rhino won’t.
- Samoa Joe vs. Amazing Red
Alex Shelley videotapes this match using his handi-cam. When he gets a little too close when Joe is trying the Ole Boot, Joe stops to give him a stern look. That allows Red to roll up Joe for 1-2-NO! Red goes on the offense culminating with the RED STAR PRESS for 1-2-NO! Off the ropes again, he charges right into a snap powerslam. Holy crap. Well, Joe is pissed. He shoves Red back into the corner for the MUSCLE BUSTER and the COQUINA CLUTCH for the tapout at 2:34. Afterwards, Joe stalks Shelley back to the dressing room.
Mike Tenay welcomes world champion Chicago White Sox catcher AJ Pierzynski, their strength and conditioning coach and former WCW wrestler Dale Torborg, and huge Chicago baseball fan Bobby Heenan out to the ring. X-Division champ AJ Styles, Chris Sabin, and Sonjay Dutt are waiting with Tenay in the ring. Pierzynski, Torborg, and Heenan all give bats and jerseys to the TNA guys. When the TNA guys look to return with gifts of their own, the Diamonds in the Rough interrupt. Simon Diamond wonders why the crap we’re talking about baseball on a WRESTLING show. He points out the flaws in AJ Pierzynski and calls Dale Torborg a guy who couldn’t cut it in wrestling so he ran away to coach baseball. Well, Diamond throws the first slap to Torborg and then a fight breaks out between the two sides until security comes out to stop it.
- Kip James & Konnan (w/BG James & Ron Killings) vs. The Beasts of Vermin
Beasts of Vermin are Hellvis and Sinn. You might remember that Sinn worked for a brief period as Kizarny in WWE. Real quick squash to establish how well Kip and Konnan are getting along. Mississippi Boat Ride to Sinn and the TEQUILA SUNRISE to Hellvis gets the tapout at 0:50. Afterwards, Bullet Bob comes out and gives them the thumbs up as 4LK celebrate.
Meanwhile, Terry Taylor is standing by with Bobby Roode and Scott D’Amore. Before Terry can get a whole sentence out, Roode shoves him away and cuts a promo on Christian Cage. Since Christian isn’t with Team Canada, he’s chosen to be against them. Christian turned his back on the whole country of Canada! Tonight, Roode will prove that he is the greatest and will show him how a true Canadian rolls. D’Amore sees Christian now for who he is. He offered Christian Cage the world, but Christian’s ego is just a little big for that. Their brotherhood ended at Genesis when Christian dropped him on his head. Now that Team Canada has sided with Planet Jarrett, he’ll feel the full force of the shift in power.
- Christian Cage vs. Bobby Roode (w/Scott D’Amore)
This is Christian’s first ever match on TNA iMPACT!. Some ringside violence to start. In the ring, Christian delivers a sitout gourdbuster for two. Roode goes for the ribs as well as he avoids a tornado DDT and drops Christian on the top rope. He then knocks Christian off the apron onto the guardrail below to do further damage. There’s a gourdbuster on the ramp. Back inside, Roode hits a kitchen sink for two. Flying knee drop gets another nearfall. Roode grabs a bearhug, but Christian fights out. He tries the Unprettier, but he stretches those ribs too much. Roode shoulder butts him back into the corner and then delivers a gutbuster. The NO PAD FLYING KNEE DROP brings up the boots from Christian. He mounts the comeback and delivers the discus clothesline for two. Sensing the end, D’Amore jabs Christian in the kidneys with the hockey stick as he comes off the ropes. Fisherman’s Suplex by Roode gets 1-2-NO! Christian counters a piledriver and catapults Roode into the ref. Whoops. When he charges Roode, Roode ducks and the ref gets nailed again. Unprettier fails again, but Christian lands the inverted DDT. No ref. D’Amore gets pulled into the ring, which brings out Monty Brown. This sets up the POUNCE, but Christian hits the deck and D’Amore gets wiped out. Christian dumps out Monty, drop toeholds Roode down when he charges at him with the hockey stick, whacks Roode in the nuts with the stick, and hits the UNPRETTIER for the win. (8:28) Fun babyface match to put over Christian heading into the PPV. After the bell, Monty gets back in and delivers the POUNCE-ah, period. **½
Before we go, James Mitchell and Abyss are in the ring to deliver the promo they wanted to last week before they were so rudely interrupted by that Sabu character. Mitchell gets gross talking about feeding Sabu’s chunks of flesh to his wild dogs when the lights go out. Oh boy. When the lights come up, Sabu has another barbed wire chair and the ring ropes have now been replaced with barbed wire! MAGIC! Is the Black Scorpion involved in this? TUNE INTO TOMORROW NIGHT ON NITRO TO FIND OUT! I need to be more careful with that joke; it’s an antique.
Turning Point PPV hype video ends the show.
