Top 20 SNME Matches!
Now that I have completed all 31 original episodes of SNME, I’ve compiled a Top 20 list to commemorate the best of the show. These matches are based on workrate versus memorable moments on the show, so the Hogan/Orndorff cage match won’t be included because I feel its pretty overrated outside of the controversial “both guys hit the floor at the EXACT same time” business.
20. WWF Tag Team Champions The British Bulldogs vs. Iron Sheik & Nikolai Volkoff – 2/3 Falls (SNME #6 – May 1986) ** 3/4
19. Randy Savage vs. Brutus Beefcake (SNME #22 – July 1989) ** 3/4
18. Ted DiBiase vs. The Blue Blazer (SNME #20 – March 1989) ***
17. 20-Man Battle Royal (SNME #29 – April 1991) ***
16. Ricky Steamboat vs. Jake Roberts (SNME #7 – October 1986) ***
15. WWF Tag Team Champions The Hart Foundation vs. The British Bulldogs – 2/3 Falls (SNME #11 – May 1987) ***
14. Randy Savage vs. Jake Roberts (SNME #30 – February 1992) ***
13. Tito Santana vs. Rick Martel (SNME #23 – October 1989) ***
12. WWF IC Champion Randy Savage vs. Jake Roberts (SNME #8 – November 1986) ***
11. WWF Tag Team Champions Demolition vs. The Brain Busters (SNME #21 – May 1989) ***1/4

Saturday Night’s Main Event #7 (10.86)
WWF Saturday Night’s Main Event #7
October 4, 1986
Richfield, OH
Richfield Coliseum
(Taped on 9/13/1986)
The current WWF Champs were as follows:
World Champion: Hulk Hogan (1/23/1984)
Intercontinental Champion: Randy Savage (2/8/1986)
World Tag Team Champions: The British Bulldogs (4/7/1986)
Women’s Champion: The Fabulous Moolah (7/9/1986)
Tonight, does Jake Roberts and Damien really take showers together? Only they know for sure. Plus, the Dream Team look to send the Bulldogs to the dog pound and take back their tag team belts. Can you really send people to the dog pound merely because a nickname? With that logic, you could say lighting Dynamite Kid on fire would cause him to eventually explode! And later on, Kamala makes his return to the WWF! It seems he’s already in talks with the Dungeon of Doom nine years ahead of time. Must be a hard club to get into! But first, Benedict Orndorff calls Hogan a crybaby. OH NO HE DIDN’T! Yes he did. It’s time for Saturday Night’s Main Event!
Your hosts are Vince McMahon & Jesse “The Buckwheat” Ventura. Read the rest of this entry

The Big Event
WWF The Big Event
August 28, 1986
Toronto, ON, CA
CNE Stadium

Intercontinental Champion: Randy Savage (2/8/1986)
World Tag Team Champions: The British Bulldogs (4/7/1986)
Women’s Champion: The Fabulous Moolah (7/9/1986)
It just goes to show that uncreative names for events do NOT affect the attendance rate. This show had a crowd of 64,000 and the reason for it is simple: Hulk Hogan vs. Paul Orndorff.
Your hosts are Gorilla Monsoon, the babbling “Luscious” Johnny V, and the incoherent Ernie Ladd. Read the rest of this entry

Cheap plug: I strongly recommend the “Main Event: WWE in the Raging 80s” book that WWE has put out. It’s a great read with more 1980s information than you’ll probably ever want to know.
From New York, our hosts are Vince McMahon and Susan St. James! Remember McMillan & Wife? Well, she’s wife. The legendary Ray Charles sings “America the Beautiful”! Read the rest of this entry
