WCW: Monday Nitro
May 4, 1998
Indianapolis, IN
Market Square Arena
The current WCW champs are as follows:
WCW World Champion: Hollywood Hogan (4/20/1998)
WCW U.S. Champion: Bill Goldberg (4/20/1998)
WCW World Tag Team Champions: The Outsiders (2/22/1998)
WCW World Television Champion: Booker T (5/3/1998)
WCW Cruiserweight Champion: Chris Jericho (1/24/1998)
BROADCAST NOTE: Due to TNT airing game one of the NBA western conference semifinals between the Seattle SuperSonics and the Los Angeles Lakers, this is only a two-hour broadcast. Since that game starts at 9PM EST, that means Nitro starts an hour earlier than usual at 7PM EST which a scheduling change always makes it difficult ratings-wise for obvious reasons. If your casual viewer doesn’t watch any other WCW programming, then naturally they won’t be aware of the change and will more than likely only tune in for the second hour of Nitro. This fact was strongly represented in the ratings report as the first hour received a 2.53 while the second hour received a 4.45 rating. On Raw is War that went completely unopposed (9PM-11PM EST) for the whole two-hour broadcast, the WWF received a 5.47 rating for the first hour and a 5.54 rating for the second hour. Interestingly enough, the NBA playoffs airing on TNT could not have come at a worst time for WCW.
HOUR NUMBER ONE! Your hosts are Tony Schiavone, Mike Tenay, and Larry Zbyszko.

Monday Night Raw
November 21, 1994
Bushkill, PA
Fernwood Resort
The current WWF champs were as follows:
World Champion: Bret Hart (3/20/1994)
Intercontinental Champion: Razor Ramon (8/29/1994)
World Tag Team Champions: Shawn Michaels & Diesel (8/28/1994)
Women’s Champion: Bull Nakano (11/20/1994)
Well, we were supposed to start out with Razor Ramon defending his IC belt against Diesel, but Diesel and his team for Survivor Series thought it would be cute to attack Razor during his entrance. What a buncha jerks! Their team name is the Teamsters. Apparently Vince doesn’t like unions. Who knew! Anyways, this puts the main event in jeopardy, says McMahon.
Your hosts are Vince McMahon and Jim Cornette.

DDP admits that 1999 was the first time WCW started to show cracks in its armor. Sometimes the best laid plans don’t always work out, and this next match is certainly evidence of that statement. Read the rest of this entry →

Footnotes:
[1]: When WCW withdrew from the NWA in January 1991, Doom’s NWA world tag team title reign carried over to the first ever WCW world tag title reign.
[2]: The Steiners actually won the titles before WrestleWar in real time, giving the Freebirds a negative title reign.
[3]: After Scott Steiner suffered an injury in June 1991, the titles were vacated. This was a tournament final.
[4]: Syxx is subbing for an injured Kevin Nash.
[5]: When Sting and Giant couldn’t get along, they had a match to determine who would get the tag belts. Sting won the match and chose Kevin Nash as his new partner.
[6]: Rick Steiner won a handicap match against the Giant and Scott Steiner who was subbing for Scott Hall.
[7]: After Rick Steiner was suffered an injury in January 1999, he and partner Kenny Kaos were stripped of the titles. This was a tournament final.
[8]: On the December 27, 1999 Nitro, the Outsiders vacated the titles after Scott Hall sustained an injury. This was a tournament final.
[9]: On April 10, 2000 when Bischoff and Russo joined together to take control of WCW, all the titles were made vacant for the WCW reboot.
[10]: This was a tournament final.
[11]: The titles became vacant when WCW Commissioner Ernest Miller pinned Disco Inferno. Whatever.
[12]: O’Haire & Jindrak won the titles in a six-team battle royal.
[13]: At Survivor Series on 11/18/2001, the titles were retired after being unified with the WWF tag team championship.
