Starrcade 1995
WCW Starrcade
December 27, 1995
Nashville, TN
Municipal Auditorium
The current WCW champs were as follows:
WCW World Champion: Randy Savage (11/26/1995)
WCW U.S. Champion: Kensuke Sasaki (11/13/1995)
WCW World Tag Team Champions: Harlem Heat (10/28/1995)
WCW World Television Champion: Johnny B. Badd (10/29/1995)
To set this concept show up and it is pretty simple, a stereotypical Japanese guy named Sonny Oono (one of Bischoff’s real-life kickboxing buddies) entered WCW a few months back as an international consultant and told everybody that the athletes from Japan could beat American wrestlers any day of the week. NJPW/WCW Collision in Korea
April 28-29, 1995
Pyongyang, North Korea
Pyongyang Stadium
(Shown on US PPV 8/4/1995)
Even crazy North Koreans love the NATURE BOY! WOOOO!
Your hosts are Eric Bischoff, Mike Tenay and Sonny Oono. Possibly the most boring announce team ever. Bischoff and Oono make some elitist exchanges for their country throughout the show. It seems unnecessary considering this is supposed to be an exhibition for peace.

SUSHI! SUSHI! Vol. 1

What I hope to accomplish with this column is to encourage us gaijins (that’s foreigners in Japanese!) that mainstream/independent American wrestling isn’t only where its at and that if you’re bored with all the so-called superstars or those little guys with kick pads and you’ve yet to find another source of wrestling media, then look no further than Japan. The Great Muta Youtube/Dailymotion Mixtape

One of the most influential and innovative wrestlers to ever come out of Japan and to take America by storm. Because of his amazing year in 1989, Great Muta was able to enjoy many tours of the US and also as a result became a huge star in his homeland. Throughout this mixtape, we’re going to look at some of Muta’s highs and lows from 1989-2000. Sit back, relax, and enjoy a good 2.5 hours of Muta! Read the rest of this entry
ROH: Manhattan Mayhem
ROH: Manhattan Mayhem
New York, NY
5/7/2005
ROH World Champion: Austin Aries (since 12/26/2004)
ROH Pure Champion: Jay Lethal (since 3/5/2005)
ROH Tag Team Champions: BJ Whitmer & Jimmy Jacobs (since 4/2/2005)
Good Times, Great Memories with Colt Cabana: He’s in downtown New York, DADDY-O! People are asked what they think of Nigel McGuinness and one guy who looks like he was a tad irresponsible with LSD back in the ’60s says, “He sounds like he has a British sounding name.” Classic stuff.
From there, we go to Earlier Today. Samoa Joe meets Jay Lethal in the ring. Lethal starts to thank Joe for all he’s done for him until Joe shoves him back and yells at him because obviously he’s taught Jay nothing if he’s here to thank him right before they get into the ring. Joe is here to take his title, and if Lethal has learned anything from Joe, its that he has to do whatever it takes to keep Joe from taking his belt. To prove Joe wrong, Lethal pie faces Joe into the corner and tells him after tonight, Lethal will tell Joe where to meet HIM from now on. Okay, I am really feeling this title match now.

The Eddie Guerrero YouTube/DailyMotion Mixtape

This is my favorite mixtape to date. Eddie Guerrero is one of my faves as he is most everybody who had followed his career, I believe. I’m pouring my creative heart and soul into this one (not that I BS’ed the other three, but I really thought about this match list), so I hope you enjoy it!
There is a Terry Funk squash on Youtube with a 21-year old Eddie Guerrero from May of 1989 on an episode of World Championship Wrestling that is quite awesome and I definitely recommend you check it out if you haven’t already. Eddie takes a couple hard bumps in it especially for the time period. A Running Piledriver on the floor gives Funk the win. I’d say it was easily **½ to ***
