The BJ Whitmer_CM Punk YouTube/DailyMotion MixTape
Posted by Matt
I’m going to be honest with you guys. I’ve only seen maybe a half dozen BJ Whitmer matches and they were all from ROH, so that says a lot of what I thought of this guy for me to pick him as the first B-named wrestler for the mix tape. Read the rest of this entry →
The AJ Styles YouTube/DailyMotion Mix Tape

Yeah! Everybody loves mix tapes! I’m starting with the letter A and doing ten-match profiles on everybody great I can find.
It’s probably a little risky to start with this guy because the first wrestler I recap sets the precedent on whether or not you the reader continues to care or not, but don’t worry. Besides, you can’t spell AJ Styles without the letter A! (duh), so he has to be first on our list. Read the rest of this entry →

The 2nd Annual Crockett Cup
April 10-11, 1987
Baltimore, MD
Baltimore Arena
WOW! What a huge bunch of wrestling this would’ve been to sit through. Good thing they split it up into two days! There’s like twenty-something teams battling it out in single-elimination tournament style. Luckily, the good people at Turner have cut this tape down to a 2-hr highlights tape. As for the tournament, the top-eight tag teams according to the NWA people get to skip the first round and go right to the next round. Those teams would be the NWA tag champs Rick Rude & Manny “Ragin’ Bull” Fernandez, Dusty Rhodes & Nikita Koloff (or the Super Powers, whichever you prefer), The Road Warriors, The Midnight Express, Giant Baba & Isao Takagi, Ivan Koloff & Vladimir “Don’t Call Me Putin” Petrov, and Tully Blanchard and Lex Luger. Why Arn Anderson and Kevin Sullivan are together instead of Arn and Tully, I have no idea. Anyways, the winning team gets to split a million smackeroos and a kiss on the cheek all the way from heaven by Jim Crockett Sr. himself!
This intro video is LONG! Clocking in at just over three minutes!

NWA Great American Bash ’88: The Price for Freedom
July 10, 1988
Baltimore, MD
Baltimore Arena
After being a part of the NWA’s calendar for three years, they finally narrowed down the concept to one show and one city; Baltimore. Baltimore would be home to eight of the next twelve “Bashes”, which is more than any one city has ever held for one particular wrestling show in North America.

NWA Clash of the Champions II: Miami Mayhem
June 8, 1988
Miami, FL
James L. Knight Center
Talk about a drop from the original, CotC 2 doesn’t even have an NWA World title match OR a multi-million dollar wrestling company to compete against in this timeslot. Basically from this show forward, the Clash was used to further a major feud (or feuds) before a big blowoff match. Which feud (or feuds) am I talking about? Let’s find out!
