Are TNA’s Creative Staff Purposely Messing Up Destination X?
When TNA was invented by Jeff Jarrett in 2002, they had a division in the company named the X-Division. Like the Cruiserweight Division, there were lots of small wrestlers, crazy spots, innovative moves, and high-paced/jammed packed matches. Unlike the Crusierweight Division, there were no weight limits, meaning any wrestler could wrestle in this division.
TNA came around in a tough time. WCW and ECW just went out of business and WWE went public and watered down their product. In other words, the wrestling business was cooling off from the hot days of the Monday Night Wars. Many critics didn’t give TNA a chance. Most hated Jeff Jarrett and thought he’d use this company just so he could be on top. They were right by saying that to some degree as Jarrett constantly stayed in the title picture and main-event scene.
TNA slowly but rapidly grew. They had stars from the past they caught people’s eye, but what stayed in people’s eyes was the X-Division. With WWE being mainly focused on big guys and with them also limiting their wrestlers in the ring, the X-Division was an alternative to the WWE, one that helped TNA grow.

Yup. This is a cheap-plug, but please be sure to read it and if you could comment. Since I already feel cheap, I should just throw this out there too – a lot of my pay comes from people clicking on the ads so be sure to click on them :).

NWA World Champion: AJ Styles (5/15/2005)
NWA World Tag Team Champions: The Naturals (4/29/2005)
TNA X-Division Champion: Christopher Daniels (3/13/2005)
In a moment that had everybody smiling who said that TNA would never last, TNA loses its cable deal with Fox Sports Net and were forced to make their weekly iMPACT show exclusive on their website until they finally scored a deal with Spike TV which debuted iMPACT on October 1. It’s certainly an arguable point, but TNA’s greatest PPV period quality-wise could have very well happened when they didn’t even have a TV deal – starting with this PPV and into Unbreakable in September, which is best remembered as a show that included the greatest match ever in TNA history: AJ Styles vs. Christopher Daniels vs. Samoa Joe.

For this recap, we go back to when iMPACT was just an hour-long show at 3PM on a Friday afternoon on your local Fox Sports Network. Good times. This particular episode of iMPACT is special for two reasons: most importantly it is the final TV appearance of Chris Candido before his untimely death and there’s also a significant title change at least at the time.

TNA Genesis opening video
– The video consists of wrestlers taking about what they were meant to do and their goals in TNA.
– I was a good video, which TNA usually produce anyway.
Mike Tenay and Tazz welcome everyone to Genesis
Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff make their way down to the ring. They enter the FOUR sided ring. Hogan welcomes the fans to the event and to the brand new Impact Zone, which gets a mixed reaction. “We Want Six Sides” chant starts up. Hogan says that the six sided ring only got them so far. Hogan says that they changed it whether the people like it or not. Hogan is proud to be apart of TNA Wrestling because it is all about wrestling. Eric Bischoff chimes in and says that they are all about change. Bischoff says that a lot more changes are coming for TNA. Hogan says “Whatcha gonna do Vince McMahon when TNA comes after you?”. Hogan and Bischoff head to the back. Read the rest of this entry
