ROYAL RUMBLE: We start the show with highlights of the Royal Rumble match where there was a CORPORATE CONSPIRACY to stop Steve Austin from winning the Rumble. Of course since then, Commissioner Shawn Michaels has made it so that Steve Austin *can* challenge Vince McMahon to a steel cage match at the St. Valentine’s Day Massacre PPV with the opportunity for that most coveted position of a main event WWF title match at WrestleMania XV. Vince has accepted the challenge and now Austin is salivating for the chance to get Vince inside a steel cage. BUT WILL THIS CHALLENGE TURN INTO A NIGHTMARE FOR THE RATTLESNAKE? We’ll find out in 24 hours at the PPV! In the mean time, it’s…

TIME TO GET RAW, EH! Your hosts are Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler. This episode of RAW airs live in Canada on TSN, says Michael. The WWF tonight is *41,432* in attendance and 38,661 paid for one of the BIGGEST live audiences to ever experience wrestling in-person, and this taping is still considered the record for the largest audience to ever see a RAW taping in-person. LAST WEEK: Shane McMahon had complete control of RAW and put himself in a match with Mankind. Naturally, he gets his butt whooped with no problem. He even tasted Mr. Socko! When it looked like DX was in total control over the Corporation, Vince McMahon returns to the show with his Christmas bonus: it’s the return of KANE! Surely he’s here to help the good guys, but no. He runs through DX and gives them all chokeslams. Last night on HeAT, we are told that Vince McMahon has saved Kane from an awful mental institution and must do everything Vince tells him to do – because he’s Vince’s FREAK.

The current WWF champs are as follows:
WWF Champion: The Rock (11/15/1998)
Intercontinental Champion: Ken Shamrock (10/12/1998)
World Tag Team Champions: The New Age Outlaws (8/30/1998)

Light Heavyweight Champion: Duane Gill (11/23/1998)
Hardcore Champion: The Big Boss Man (11/30/1998)
Women’s Champion: Sable (11/15/1998)

Vince McMahon comes out to a HORRENDOUS amount of boos. He declares there will be no chance in hell Stone Cold Steve Austin will ever be the WWF champion. He knows he said that if Austin wins the “Buried Alive” match tonight against the Undertaker, he would qualify for the Royal Rumble. However, McMahon feels Austin’s hopes of reaching the Royal Rumble will be literally “buried alive” by the Undertaker on the Rock Bottom PPV here tonight. As far as the Rock is concerned and his condition, this PPV tonight will be dedicated to the Best Damn WWF champion there ever has been. Vince asks for the crowd to pay homage to the Rock here tonight and calls for a drumroll. As McMahon points to the stage, fireworks go off and a huge blown up shot of the Rock holding the WWF championship drops and hangs on either side of the entryway. Now that’s out of the way, Vince starts to denigrate Canada just as he did to England a week earlier. Once he’s done slamming Canada for being a bunch of US-wannabes, he brings out Shane McMahon to join Kevin Kelly for commentary.

We have not really heard much out of Kaientai since TAKA Michinoku lost the WWF Light Heavyweight title to Christian back at Judgment Day: In Your House back in October. Now that Duane Gill from the JOB Squad has managed to capture the Light Heavyweight title away from Christian, now is the time for TAKA Michinoku and Kaientai to win back the gold. We see Yamaguchi-san cutting a short Japanese promo from a stairwell. Standing behind him are TAKA Michinoku and Sho Funaki with their arms crossed looking pissed while Dick Togo and Men’s Teioh stand behind *them* waving Japanese flags.
